In this position, you will be a member of the Outreach Team on our Commuter Services of PA project, which manages the
travel demand management (TDM) programs for thirteen counties across south central and northeast Pennsylvania. This position has specific emphasis on nine south central Pennsylvania counties including Adams, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York. As a Community Outreach Specialist you will promote transportation options to the single occupancy vehicle by helping to host events at employer worksites and delivering individualized commuter marketing support and services, with the goal of improving traffic congestion and air quality in this region of Pennsylvania.
The Community Outreach Specialist performs a range of transportation demand management, marketing, and promotional projects, aimed at enhancing opportunities for individual travelers, commuters, and/or students to utilize non-drive alone means of transportation, including carpooling, vanpooling, public transit, bicycling, walking, teleworking, and other options.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assist outreach team with promoting and implementing commute options programs at employer sites
Conduct events at worksites throughout the counties of participation, including promotion prior to the event and follow up afterwards
Possess knowledge and awareness of business and social entities in the nine counties of emphasis
Promote and assist in the administration of regional marketing programs
Conduct outbound calls to commuters for the purpose of tracking placement in rideshare arrangements
Attend local networking and public meetings
Interact with employer representatives, human resources staff, state and local transportation officials, and elected officials
Conduct presentations for stakeholders, employers and commuters
Analyze and manipulate data specific to commuter travel statistics and work with data reports generated by our Commute PA app
Work closely with individual commuters to facilitate an increase in more cost effective and clean commuting modes
Measure clean commuting at worksites, according to program procedures
Bachelor degree in Marketing, Business, Education, Public health or related field with 2-5 years of experience
OR, demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
Must have excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills and experience in handling multiple tasks in an organized and efficient manner
Proven track record meeting job performance metrics
Ability to achieve objectives through teamwork
Field office work will require reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a good driving record
Some heavy lifting (<30 lbs) may be required
