Job Summary

  • Manages one or more moderately complex project, involving a combination of the following:

  • Clients with a regional geographic footprint; OR,

  • Projects involving multiple services provided by regional IE offices; OR,

  • Other complexities, such as projects that involve litigation, environmental protection, due diligence, etc.

  • May manage all phases of projects (from beginning to close out).

  • Works mostly independently but receives basic instruction on specific assignments, objectives, complex features and possible solutions.

  • Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.

  • May supervise: senior level engineers (all disciplines applicable), as well as project administration, project controls, scheduling, cost control, estimating and procurement representatives.

Minimum Requirements

AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, motivated and talented Structural Engineer and Project Manager for immediate employment for the Winnipeg, Manitoba office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • At a project level, provide clear guidance to designers and technical staff to meet client objectives;

  • Write and coordinate winning proposals, attract new clients and retain current clients;

  • Manage project scope, financial cost, control, and scheduling of projects;

  • Meet with clients to review project requirements;

  • Manage a project delivery team to produce fully coordinated and high quality deliverables such as working drawings and project specifications;

  • Collaborate with AECOM management on preparation of project proposals;

  • Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing with project team and clients;

  • Prepare design and contract documents, check documents, conduct construction reviews and provide contract administration throughout the duration of a project;

  • Communicate with design and construction teams to provide information and help resolve problems;

  • Oversee multiple active projects and be part of our marketing team in sourcing new work;

  • Client communication, internal project team communication, consultant coordination, design development, drawing review and contract administration.

  • Leadership, Communication, Planning, Time management, Risk Management, Negotiation and Subject matter experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Must Have Skills/Experience (Including any required Certifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering and project management field;

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience;

  • A strong business acumen and experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities;

  • Proven experience in leadership; leading team/s thorough all phases of a design and construction project;

  • Strong business acumen and project manager skills;

  • Communication skills including oral and written communication,

  • Time management skills with experience in understanding priorities and acting accordingly

  • Organizational skills an ability to multi task and manage multiple simultaneous projects in an organized fashion;

  • Strong presentation skills the ability to present through public speaking and presentation of materials to clients both internal and external;

  • Problem identification and problem resolution skills with strong attention to detail,;

  • Exceptional technical knowledge of structural engineering, building construction, and the requirements of the National Building Code of Canada and Manitoba Amendments;

  • Ability to work within a team environment including the ability to understand personal differences to coordinate and extract the most from all team members.;

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office (Project, Excel and Word), Outlook, Adobe;

  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning;

  • Must be dedicated to working hard with an all-hands-on-deck attitude towards completing the work efficiently and accurately;

  • Technical knowledge, document review, consultant coordination and experience in field review and contract administration;

  • Experience in municipal, industrial and commercial projects and broad skills in all phases of project delivery;

  • Strong knowledge in civil infrastructure, building systems across multiple engineering disciplines;

  • Familiar with all construction administration procedures.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • 15+ years' related work experience preferred

  • Registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
