AECOM is currently seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our growing team in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Working alongside a team of professionals with varied backgrounds and skills, the ideal candidate is comfortable in fast paced environments. As a technical specialist, you would provide advice to external and internal clients on environmental protection measures and permitting requirements, conduct environmental impact assessments, and be equally comfortable working on active construction or industrial sites as in the office environment.
Job responsibilities include but aren’t limited to the following:
Individuals should have experience designing and conducting biological inventories, in remote and urban settings.
Writing and other communication skills, organizational skills and an ability to work well on multi-disciplinary teams are considered essential qualities.
The position will involve working to provide support on environmental investigations, including baseline studies, environmental impact assessments, environmental monitoring plans, conservation and reclamation plans, permitting, and other related scopes of work.
Adhering to and enforcing corporate health and safety protocols.
Interpreting results of investigations and integrating results with additional biophysical data.
Writing effective reports in a scientific style.
Writing and budgeting proposals.
Project management experience would be considered an asset.

BA/BS in a relevant technical discipline, including but not limited to geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering + 6 years of relevant experience as an environmental consultant or industry representative or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Valid driver’s license.
6+ years of experience in field activities (e.g., biological inventories)
Experience with the mining industry sector
Experience developing and preparing baseline and/or environmental impact assessment reports for submittal and acceptance for technical clients and regulators.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients and project team.
Ability to prepare graphics and reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner
Computer proficient in MS Office, and a variety of statistical programs helpful.
Strong team worker, flexible
Physically capable of completing field work in urban and rural settings.
Attention to detail and a thorough approach to work
Ability to multitask
Strong communication skills at all levels
Organized and able to work within a team of technical experts
