The Transportation (Rail Engineering) business line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and motivated Civil Engineering Technologist for a position located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This position offers an opportunity to work within a well-established and successful group with a diverse range of clients and technical challenges on projects involving railway, roadway, structures and facilities throughout the prairies and across Canada.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Reporting to the Manitoba Rail Lead, provide engineering, technical, and CADD support to the Transportation-Rail business line.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with motivation to learn, and willingness to get involved in planning, design, and construction as projects dictate.
Maintain a strong knowledge of client, industry and regulatory requirements.
Work independently with general guidance except for complex and unusual situations.
Lead the production of moderate to complex preliminary and detailed design drawings, coordinating with other internal groups and business lines as needed.
Reviews work undertaken by CADD staff to ensure that design and drawings are completed accurately and in compliance with CAD Standards
Technical or Associates degree required
9+ years working on all elements of Transportation infrastructure Design/CADD development and execution
Certified Engineering Technologist (Municipal or Geomatics Technology preferred)
Must possess a valid driver's license
Proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop lot grading, drainage, and geometric design solutions for moderately and highly complex technical challenges
Proficient using AutoCAD Civil 3D Transportation and Site Corridors to prepare design surface construction modeling, including the use of advanced corridor design assemblies and subassemblies
Experience mentoring less experienced designers and CADD staff
Thorough understanding of AREMA, CN and CP rail design standards and guidelines
Thorough understanding of Transport Canada Grade Crossing Standards
Advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities
Applicants must have an interest in Transportation design and technical drafting, with a strong attention to detail and quality
Experience in the Rail Engineering profession is considered an asset
