Job Summary

The Building and Places Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Operations Manager for immediate employment in the Whitby, ON office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Management.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assuming and directing the office’s project management leadership, working with multiple project teams across multiple offices

  • Lead in the preparation and monitoring of scope, schedule and budgets on both ground up and renovation projects

  • Learn and apply means of working, create proposals, monitor resources and work with senior staff to review technical solutions and with QA/QC staff throughout design and construction processes to meet the client’s needs

  • Significant client interface

  • Project management planning, monitoring and implementation

  • Assume responsibility for financial outcomes

  • Support business development staff on multiple tasks

  • Liaison between Project management and Business Development groups simultaneously

  • Leading and mentoring AECOM PMs on work planning in individual projects for profitable outcomes as well as overseeing operations and labor forecasting for the office

  • Determining and validating the market value of AECOM services in the market places, Preparing cost proposals and defining scope and schedule requirement for business development initiatives and opportunities

  • Working closely with AECOM clients and design teams to determine ROI associated with design decisions based on a cost vs revenue analysis in order to validate design decisions and drive future business

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering

  • Strong project accounting and P&L understanding and experience

  • 10+ years of managerial experience of an Architectural or A/E staff

  • Ability to balance various tasks, responsibilities, and commitments efficiently and simultaneously

  • Ability to clearly communicate with Clients and peers

  • Experience and skill in strategic business development, client relationships and driving sales and revenue

  • The ability to support and lead business development activities through early client interaction, “scope of work” development, interviews, and on-going client maintenance interface

  • Successfully delivered project scope and fee, delivering targeted profit to the firm interfaced with project managers on schedules, project review meetings, issues management and client expectations

  • Diversified knowledge of architectural or engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields

  • Working knowledge of project design and construction document production, standard construction techniques and principals

  • Must be organized and detail-oriented, and have good communications skills, both written and verbal

  • Experience coordinating work, civil, structural and MEP disciplines

  • Field experience with observing construction progress and capable of providing construction administration services

  • A strong desire to train, mentor and develop staff to grow their careers and the business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed as a registered Architect or Engineer

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Project Management experience on multi disciplinary projects

  • PMP Certified

  • MBA or other graduate level business degree from an accredited university​
