Job Summary

The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Municipal Engineer /EIT for immediate employment in the Whitby, ON office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering, with a specific focus on land development design, including residential and industrial subdivisions, and residential and commercial site plans.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist Project Managers, and ability to lead, in preparation of servicing reports and contract documentation

  • Assist and coordinate with designers in preparation of civil design drawings and design calculations

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Undertake quality control procedures

  • Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

  • Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD/Civil 3D. Knowledge of the use of CAD is not a priority but is an asset

  • Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff

  • Ensuring overall data quality and integrity

  • Conduct or participate in meetings with clients, design staff, or municipal/provincial approval staff as necessary

  • Assist in construction administration duties to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance to specifications regarding material requirements, alignment, grade, finish, compaction, etc., including preparation of progress payment certificates, progress reports, and other contract documentation

  • Adaptable to work between land development projects and municipal design projects as may be necessary

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)

  • 2+ years of related experience in municipal civil engineering design and CAD

  • EIT or P. Eng. designation in Ontario

  • Design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks and detail design, with preference or focus in land development

  • Experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Ability to work in field or office conditions

  • Ability to work and communicate with clients, contractors and other AECOM staff

Preferred Qualifications

  • Land Development, Subdivision, Site Plan design and coordination

  • Civil 3D

  • Strong time management and organizational skills

  • Proactive and eagerness to grow and develop in role

  • Construction administration experience
