AECOM is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing Buildings and Places team. The Buildings and Places team is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers architectural, engineering and project management services for construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, federal, municipal, institutional, and transit facilities.
A key member of the mechanical design team, the Mechanical Engineer will:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
Lead the preparation of deliverables and products such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates related to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) for commercial, governmental, and institutional facilities
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Assist with the mechanical design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for commercial and institutional facilities
Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software (AutoCAD, Revit, Carrier HAP)
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Deliver complete, accurate, and coordinated project design assignments within time and budget parameters while satisfying client contractual obligations
Perform field investigations for incorporation of existing conditions into construction documents
Work within a project team environment and coordinate work with other project disciplines
Maintain and organize all project-related documentation
Plan and organize work that follows a defined process
Work independently and make technical decisions based on building code interpretation as well as company, client, and industry standard practices
Candidates must have at least a University degree + 2 years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education) to be considered for this position.
Equivalency of experience and/or education could be AA/AS (US) + 4 Years of relevant experience or Diploma/Certificate (Canada) + 4 Years of relevant experience or HS/GED + 6 Years of relevant experience.)

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario
Experience in the Buildings Engineering Industry. 5 + Years of experience with local/Canadian clients a strong asset.
Proficient in AutoCAD MEP and Revit
The ability to work with, interpret, and apply national and local building codes
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing
Experience with HVAC, Hydronic Systems, Controls, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Compressed Air, and Service Piping systems preferred.
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong technical writing skills
Security Clearance: PWGSC/PSPC - Level II Secret Clearance preferred for Federal Project
