Job Summary

The Transportation Division of AECOM is seeking a talented Mid-Level Transportation Engineer (Highway) for employment in the Whitby, Ontario office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Demonstrate strong technical background and interest in Highways/ Municipal Roadway design.

  • Provide coordination and design support for preliminary/ detailed design for Highways/ Municipal Roadway projects

  • Coordinate design efforts of multi-disciplinary teams

  • Communicate and work with other project team members and the client as directed

  • Strive for and maintain high quality and integrity of deliverables

  • Promptly relay issues to the Project Manager for action and follow up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

  • Other duties as assigned, including project or meeting documentation, report preparation and support

  • Work independently or as part of a team with general guidance

  • Mentor/ guide less experienced staff as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in transportation design including roads/highways, drainage and Utilities

  • P. Eng. in Ontario or eligible to obtain within 24 months

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Microstation, Civil 3D, Inroads, roadway geometrics, drainage design, specifications and quantity take-offs

  • Experience in construction staging and traffic management plans

  • Experience with MTO and TAC guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of engineering experience in transportation design including roads/highways, drainage and related municipal services

  • Experience in multi-disciplinary design coordination

  • Proficiency in MTO/ Municipal roadway design
