Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Civil Auto Cad Structural Engineering Designer for immediate employment in the Whitby, ON office. The long term goal of this position is for the individual to develop into the lead CADD Structural Engineering expert for the AECOM Whitby Transportation department, responsible for managing the quality of deliverables developed by designers in the Transportation team based out of the Whitby Office. In addition, the individual is expected to eventually become an expert in the design of bridge and other transportation structures using AutoCAD and Microstation.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • AutoCAD Drafting for MTO, TTC and municipal infrastructure projects, focus on transportation

  • Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff

  • Ensuring overall data quality and integrity

  • Preparing structural drawings

  • Assuring that drafting/ design related issued are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action. Following up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduate of secondary school or equivalent

  • 3+ year Civil Technician or 3 year Civil Technology Course

  • Excellent working knowledge of latest version of Auto CAD

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, and clients

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified or eligible for CET (Certified Engineering Technician)

  • 2-5 years Autocad & Microstation

  • 2-5 years Technical experience in structures or reinforced concrete/foundations

  • Working knowledge of databases, GIS

  • Good time management skills
