Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking experienced, creative, highly talented Construction Inspectors for a client project in Wellington, FL.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for the inspection and reporting on all phases of the contract and assures adherence to contract plans, specifications, ancillary documents and acceptable work practices.
Interpret plans, specifications, water district codes, sewer district codes, railroad regulations, building codes, industry standards, regulations, and technical manuals, to become thoroughly familiar with job requirements to assure compliance.
Ensures the conformance to federal, state, and local legislation.
Participates in planning, scheduling, and timing of long-range and day-to-day construction and phases thereof.
Inspects construction materials and all phases of the work in progress from beginning to end of project.
Monitor performance of testing; collects and prepares material test samples for shipment; and assists in the conduct of performance tests.
Inspects equipment, operations, premises, work premises and work practices for conformance with safety rules and regulations pertaining to accident, fire, health, and sanitation, and checks for conformance of plant and facilities with contract specifications as to kind, amount, working conditions, etc.
Estimates percentage of work completed and makes or reviews inventories of quality and value of construction materials on hand and in place.
Ensures that materials incorporated into the construction work are in compliance with plans and specifications and that items requiring laboratory testing are tested before use on the project. On those items requiring laboratory tests, is responsible for securing required samples for such testing, and report results.
Maintains inventories of materials stored on site.
Exercises surveillance to assure the Construction Contractor is conducting quality control operations to produce work in conformance with plans and specifications. Ascertains that quality assurance reports, required quality tests, and activities are consistent with the project Quality Assurance Plan. Brings any deficiency to the attention of the Contracting Officer Representative.
Provides daily surveillance of Contractor Quality control (QC) system to assure that it is working effectively, in that required quality tests are made and appropriately reported in a timely manner along with daily quality control reports.
Prepares deficiency lists for items to be corrected.
Provides information to the Government on estimates of work completed and reports on deficiency items.
Follows up to assure timely corrections of deficiencies.
Prepares, and submits daily inspection and construction progress reports showing such data as major items of work performed, labor and equipment used, material and equipment received and installed, and pertinent remarks as to progress and status of work, causes of delays, unusual developments, etc. In order to provide an accurate daily report, the contractor shall be present at all time while construction is being performed.
Maintains records of departures from original plans and specifications and furnishes such data in the form of marked prints and explanatory notes for the preparation of final ""as built"" record drawings.
Reviews and checks contractors shop drawings.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
2+ years of civil works management experience or related technical fields conducting Quality Assurance surveillance and construction project monitoring
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/clients are security sensitive
Must pass pre-employment drug screen
Valid Driver’s License and a clean driving record required to travel between client sites
Must be able to work 12 hour shifts, weekends, and holidays when needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
OSHA 10 Hour Construction Outreach Training (card) or the ability to complete training and obtain credential
Construction Quality Management Certification (CQM) highly preferred
Working knowledge of RMS highly preferred
Demonstrate experience with MS Excel and Word
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely with written and verbal communication. Must be a good communicator
Ability to perform duties with only general supervision Capacity to exercise independent judgment and initiative for large scale complex construction project
