AECOM Project Engineer - Water / Wastewater in Waterloo, Iowa

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Water / Wastewater Engineer with 6 or more years of experience to be located in the Waterloo, Iowa office. The Engineer will join our expanding Water Group. This position may include client management with municipal contracts. Projects including water system master plans, hydraulic distribution system modeling, water audits, water quality studies, disinfection, water supply sustainability, water systems design (water treatment plants, pump stations, etc.), energy evaluations, water main replacement analysis, water vulnerability and emergency response, and Safe Drinking Water Program audits.

Assignments will include various studies and designs associated with public drinking water systems and wastewater. Project management responsibilities include project financial management, proposal preparation, managing project team members and ensuring that products are delivered on time, within agreed upon budgets and to the client’s satisfaction. This person will be responsible for quality control standard compliance and to ensure that project staff follow corporate safety guidelines. This person will manage several projects at any one time and will have project teams consisting of one to several staff. Project team members will include technical specialists that address the technical needs of the projects.

Responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supervisory, managerial, developmental and leadership skills to concurrently manage multiple projects, and technical staff.

  • Supervise the work of multiple technical disciplines with a broad general knowledge of many aspects of water / wastewater engineering for municipal market sectors.

  • Finds, pursues and wins long-term, opportunities by networking with clients as well as within the water / wastewater industry to develop business relationships

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related discipline

  • 5+ years of experience in municipal water / wastewater conveyance and pumping engineering and design

  • Must have project engineer experience with some experience managing projects or components of projects

  • Must have strong technical engineering expertise in water or wastewater treatment plants and conveyance design

  • Must have a sound foundation in the planning, permitting, and design of water and wastewater plants and conveyance projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Iowa

  • Project experience in Solid Waste & Landfills
