Position Title Principal for Safety

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced System Safety Professional to assist the U.S. Navy’s PMS 317 Program Office. The successful candidate will provide support for environmental and system safety, including 1) assisting with implementation of DoD, SECNAV, OPNAV, and NAVSEA environmental and system safety requirements and policies; 2) providing system safety input to PMS 317’s Systems Engineering Plan, Programmatic Environment Safety and Health Evaluation, system requirements, statements of work/statements of objectives, and requests for proposals 3) developing program documents such as the System Safety Program Plan and 4)reviewing safety products and providing feedback on adequacy, gaps, and issues. The candidate will also perform risk assessments and analyses including determination and quantification of risk areas, risk management of program objectives, risk avoidance practices, risk analyses recommendations, and risk mitigation and monitoring through metrics.

Minimum Requirements

  1. BS in Engineering or equivalent

  2. 12 months continuous System Safety Engineering experience.

  3. At least 15 years of related experience in a Navy program

  4. Extensive prior military service operational experience or extensive military ship detail design and construction experience and military ship systems familiarization.

  5. Strong communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office

  6. Secret clearance

  7. Ability to travel periodically anywhere in the US

Preferred Qualifications

  1. NAVSEA Experience

  2. Knowledge of Amphibious Transport Dock (LPD 17) and Amphibious Replacement (LX(R)) ships

  3. DAWIA Level 3 certification in Systems Planning, Research, Development and Engineering ( Candidate must be able to obtain DAWIA level 3 within 60 days of hire)

  4. Completion of the Weapons System Explosives Safety Review Board Interactive Safety Environment (WISE) Training Modules Catalogs A and B and C. ( WISE Training Module A and B are required before the candidate begins work) ( Module C must be completed within 60 days of hire)

  5. Professional Certification in engineering, safety, or industrial hygiene
