AECOM GIS Specialist in Washington, District Of Columbia

AECOM is looking for a self-motivated, experienced GIS Specialist to work as an on-site contractor at a client site to provide geospatial portfolio management to the Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM), GEOfidelis Program. The GIS Specialist must have the skills and experience necessary to work independently improving geospatial enterprise integration with other Marine Corps business systems and researching emerging technologies supporting GEOfidelis innovation.
This position is located at the Pentagon in Washington DC.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Works under general direction to analyze, plan, develop and communicate system requirements and standards to key stakeholders.
Programs and applies a broad range of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) database, and spreadsheet software for GIS design, mapping and analysis.
Provide programmatic support and subject matter guidance on managing, as well as coordinating program initiatives.
Independently contributes to the design of databases or development of geodatabases and systems, as well as compiles and analyzes GIS or other information systems configuration documentation.
Meets with subject matter experts to discuss topics, such as technical specifications, customized solutions and operational problems.
Evaluate GIS or other business systems, as well as design and develop GIS integration strategies for internal use.
Support the management of the client’s geospatial portfolio and work to improve geospatial enterprise integration with other client business systems.
Research and report on emerging technologies supporting client innovation.
Independently performs most assignments with instruction as to the general results expected.
This position is based at the Pentagon in Washington DC.

Bachelor’s degree in geography, planning, engineering, computer science, or a related technical field with emphasis in geographic information systems (GIS) + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to travel to various supported Marine Corps Installations.
US Citizen based on need to obtaining a secret clearance.
Must have the ability to work independently and with a team of professionals.
Experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE).
Experience configuring and managing enterprise GIS.
Excellent time management and communication skills.
Ability to design, implement, and manage system integration solutions.
Will be required to work independently and communicate directly with customers from multiple business areas.
