AECOM is currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Building Engineering who will give leadership to a multidisciplinary design department within Aecom Poland. The Head of Building Engineering will ensure consistent delivery of our local and international design projects.
The candidate we are looking for has extensive experience in the management of design teams, a strong client focus and commitment to meet our project objectives such as Quality, Timely delivery, cost & safety.
In this role you will manage and support the multidisciplinary engineering departments in designing coordinated projects in accordance with the contractual requirements and customer expectations. The Head of Engineering will ensure consistency of technical solutions in projects implemented for repetitive clients.
Coordination and planning of recourses in the multidisciplinary design departments
Training and development of staffing
Quality and progress control within the projects to ensure that project documentation is of the required technical standard and delivered according to the agreed internal or contractual milestones.
Making sure that multidisciplinary design reviews are conducted on projects including safety in design reviews
Project scope management for effective use of resources and completion of projects on time and within budget.
Active communication with internal and project stakeholders regarding the project progress and change management
Risk management in the design projects in coordination with project management.
Attending executive meetings, weekly progress meetings and quality, safety meetings and make sure that weekly technical meetings are attended by all relevant disciplines.
Enhance safety culture in the team
Performs various management, leadership, and people accountability responsibilities for a specific technical group or department.
Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments.
Generally requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering.
Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches.
Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to the field. Work at this level usually requires extensive progressive experience.
Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Manages group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit.
For this Role we require:
Master Degree in engineering related discipline (Civil, Structural or MEP)
Mandatory chartered engineer in Poland
Extensive experience in design of industrial and/or military projects
Minimum 15 years of experience with 3+ years of experience in a leadership position overseeing staff on major projects or programmes
Mobility - position requires business trips
Good understanding of project management and team management
Fluent Polish and English (German language would be beneficial)
Ability to lead teams efficiently
Good co-operation and communication skills
Ability to work within complex (international) project structures
Experience in multidisciplinary design project is a must
- Experience in military infrastructure preferred
