Job Description
Due to the continued growth and expansion of our Nuclear Team in Warrington, we are looking to increase our technical workforce and are seeking to recruit a Summer Placement Civil/Structural Student.
We are looking for individuals who can apply their skills independently and to act as part of a team to deliver projects to the benefit of our Clients. Inherently the projects are multi-disciplinary and may be at any stage in the project life cycle. Our projects range from client consultancy support to complete turn-key solutions.
This is an exciting time for the Nuclear Team in Warrington, with an interesting and expanding pipeline of both international and UK based projects. As a placement student you will be required to both manage and project report on your package of work with support from Senior Engineers, who will support in your development. Additional responsibilities may include interfacing with client/s and managing the delivery of the projects in accordance with AECOM’s quality, safety and environmental procedures.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Hand sketches
3D scheme models
Functional calculations
Design risk assessments
Directive compliance assessments
Attendance to client meetings
Testing activities
Commissioning activities
Post project review meetings
Identify and report change
Ensure that HSE legislation is applied at a project level
Provide input to Quality Assurance audits as appropriate
Report non-conformities, incidents and observations through the appropriate systems.
Qualifications
Working towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Structural Engineering in an ICE or IStuctE accredited University
Previous experience in the design and delivery of a system or design project at University.
Provide a technical understanding of a technical subject of your choice.
Ability to prepare written specifications and contract documents.
Understanding of the ICE or IStructE code of conduct and understand the requirements of becoming a registered Member of either of these institutions.
Previous work experience and/or membership of a group where you have had to work as a team.
Willing to engage in learning the relevant design tools, techniques and related methods e.g. IT systems, IT Software and by IT literate.
A basic understanding of design principles and ability to apply them.
Good written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to present technical topics to an audience.
Full UK driving license or equivalent that permits driving in the UK.
Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.
