JW Williams Inc., an AECOM company, is seeking a highly talented, creative, Welding Superintendent to be based in our Fabrication Shop located in Waller, Texas .
The Shop Superintendent will report directly to the Operations Manager and will possess relevant manufacturing and production experience within the vessels, pipe, and structural steel fabrication and construction industry.
Direct and monitor, on a daily basis, fabrication shop work activities, fabrication progress and resources necessary to efficiently meet the production schedule and performance metrics.
Review schedules in order to make decisions concerning staffing requirements, work procedures, or duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints.
Review operations and confer with staff to resolve production problems.
Balance quality, productivity, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas of production.
Responsibility for the safe operation, regulatory compliance, throughput, quality, continuous improvement, production, and cost management of plant.
Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity.
Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety.
Obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.
Actively managing performance of personnel and processes in a manufacturing setting.
Continually review with foreman their job tasks and work together to provide motivation, guidance and support.
Responsible for time keeping of group.
Oversee a workforce of 50+ employees.
Any other related duties, as required and/or special projects as needed.

Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
Thorough understanding of heavy process welding and plans interpretation.
- Bachelor's Degree + 6 years of relevant manufacturing and production experience within the vessels, pipe, and structural steel fabrication and construction industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Associate's Degree + 8 years of relevant manufacturing and production experience within the vessels, pipe, and structural steel fabrication and construction industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- High School Diploma / GED + 10 years of relevant manufacturing and production experience within the vessels, pipe, and structural steel fabrication and construction industry or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
3 + years of Supervisory Experience in vessel, pipe, and Structural Steel Manufacturing.
Knowledge and use of 5S and LEAN principles.
Knowledge and understanding of ASME, AWS Codes and Standards.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook.
Demonstrated leadership and exceptional problem solving abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field preferred.
