AECOM Somali/Arabic Linguist in Virtual, Virginia

AECOM is seeking to immediately interview and hire a Somali/Arabic Linguist for an ongoing language contract. The chosen candidate will become a direct hire with AECOM and will be provided with full benefits and opportunities for advancement, after applicable time. This position will require advanced knowledge of both the Somali and the Arabic language. The position requires performing various functions in the foreign language to include source identification, monitoring, internet research, translation, summarization, managing data, conducting research, and writing reports. Training will be provided. No deployment required. No clearance required. Selected candidate must be open to shift-work on a rotating basis, to include evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays.
MUST be of US Citizenship.
MUST be fluent in near - Native or Native Somali.
MUST be fluent in near – Native or Native Arabic
MUST be fluent in near - Native or Native English and have strong ability in written English composition.
MUST possess strong cultural knowledge of Somalia
MUST be capable and knowledgeable in Microsoft Applications and Internet research.
MUST HAVE the ability to review audio/video material and write/transcribe information into English Language with a high-degree of accuracy and expression AND have an excellent understanding of one or more regional dialects.
MUST be able to pass a translation test from the Vernacular into English
The ability to accurately translate a wide variety of complex texts from the source language into English. These texts may contain difficult, idiomatic, scientific, and colloquial writing.
Linguists shall be able to accurately capture cultural subtleties, nuance, and emphasis. A level of cultural mastery is required for the translator to capture socio-cultural essentials embedded in text to include political, religious, historic, and ethnic elements.
In terms of gisting/summarizing: Each Linguist Should Be able to identify and flawlessly summarize all pertinent factual information and abstract concepts, recognizing the significance of complex expressions, such as colloquial text or technical terminologies.
The ability to triage documentation to isolate full-range of information that is of importance to the task.
