Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Urban Planner II for immediate employment in the Virginia Beach, VA office. In this role the Planner will be joining AECOM’s Buildings and Places group and will serve on multi-disciplinary planning projects primarily for military installations and federal agencies. This is a hybrid work-model requiring a minimum of 2-3 days per week in the office.
The responsibilities of this role include, but may not be limited to, the following:
Develops creative and innovative solutions to manage Federal client’s communications, expectations, and requests
Coordinate project resources and staffing and task management
Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed planning products
Monitors and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws
Prepare and oversees project tasks including schedule, data collection and analysis, workshop preparation, meeting facilitation, concept development, report writing and layout, graphics development, etc.
Ensure quality of reports and documents developed meets guidelines
Introduce innovative ideas or processes to streamline project efforts
Prepares reports on operations and activities, recommending improvements and modifications
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
BA/BS plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Demonstrated experience using Adobe and MS Office software
Relevant experience should include one or more of the following:
Master Planning
Assessment of existing conditions
Resilience planning
Community planning
Due to the nature of client's work, US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience with ArcGIS and/or AutoCAD is a plus
Previous military planning or military experience is helpful, but not required
AICP certification is beneficial
Additional Information
This is a hybrid work-model requiring at a minimum of 2-3 days per week in the office

Some travel within the United States will be necessary
Offered rate of compensation in (Virginia locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $55,029.50 - $85,000.
