AECOM TCTS Engineering Technician IV in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Job Summary

Operates and maintains the Tactical Combat Training System (TCTS) equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems that typically cannot be solved by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.

Operational responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Receive pre-mission data from squadrons and inputs into MLU. Informs MC and/or squadron RTO when data is not received in a timely manner. Verifies all information received from the squadron is correct and is accurately reflected on the display system.

Maintains TCTS components in accordance with PM schedule, Work Instructions, as directed by manufacturers’ manuals. Performs system and network administration tasks. Manages workstations by installing and configuring approved software/hardware, administering user accounts. Performs software patches/updates and backups. Utilizes Linux and UNIX utilities to ensure system security and data integrity. Work typically requires detailed understanding of the interrelationships of computer OS diagnostics and routine operations.

Performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM) on assigned equipment. Coordinates schedule and work with Job Control. Verifies interoperability after maintenance actions. Documents all maintenance actions, isolates malfunctions. Incorporates approved system upgrades and engineering changes. Work may be reviewed by the Operations Lead for compliance with accepted practices.

Performs complex troubleshooting tasks, isolates malfunctions, repairs to the discrete component level if necessary. Exercises independent judgment on tasks and tracing anomalies in signal flow theory. Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians. Assists Mission Coordinator (MC)/Range Training Officer (RTO) and performs Mission Line Up (MLU) functions when necessary.

Operates and maintains Next Generation Threat System (NGTS) equipment in support of TCTS Inject-to-Live mission sets as directed.

Operationally qualified at designated tech level within six month and Maintenance qualified within one year of hiring date. Cross-trained and qualified to operate at least two additional TCTS within one year of hiring date.

Minimum Requirements

Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy "C" School or vocational school with formal training in the field of computers and related electronic equipment maintenance and manufacturer or vendor training.

Four years’ computer/electronic systems maintenance and troubleshooting.

Three years of Tactical Training Range equipment: (TCTS/TACTS/ACMI) preferred.

Two years’ of experience in computer systems analysis (hardware/ software), computer programming, LAN support (including server and workstations).

Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver’s License.

Must obtain and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.

Must possess and maintain an active DoD Secret Clearance

Must obtain and maintain Security+ certification

Familiarity with LINUX-based training / instrumentation systems
