Job Summary

Draws on experience in U.S. Navy fleet operations to support staffs ashore and afloat conducting Fleet exercises. Supports U.S. Navy/Marine Corps Fleet operational training by applying system analysis and design skills in portable workstation interoperability, and computer systems imbedded within the Large Area Tracking Range (LATR) system. Responsible for analyzing computer hardware and software relationships, and providing remedial actions and/or recommendations for corrective solutions. Operates computer applications including those for aircraft and ship tracking systems, word processing; database and spreadsheets management; project management; and inventory control. Reviews new hardware and software requirements and provides cost effective implementation plans. Accomplishes assigned tasks independently under overall project objectives and requirements. Apprises supervisor about progress and unusual complications.

Program, set up, monitor, and debrief LATR operations, coordination of instrumentation support for major multi-platform operations and exercises. Install and de-install LDTS at remote sites using a variety of communication paths to include SIPRNET and T1/T2;T3; transport; install and de-install Participant Instrumentation Packages on ships, vehicles, and landing craft to bases and facilities on the East Coast, and Gulf of Mexico. Document maintenance actions in a computerized maintenance management system.

Cross-trained and qualified to operate at least two additional LATR systems.

Work may require embarking on US Navy ship for periods up to 30 days (approximately).

Shift work may be required during 24/7 operations.


Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education Level

High school diploma or equivalent.

College level or formal training in computer systems, including local area network and Microsoft server workstation support.

Minimum Experience Requirements

Four years’ experience in Naval operations with emphasis on CSG ops preferred. AIC/RTO training highly desirable

Two years’ experience in computer systems analysis (hardware/software), computer programming, LAN support (including server and workstations), Windows training and certification (desired).

Background in computer operations with familiarity with LINUX-based training/ instrumentation systems highly desirable.

Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Network + certification desired.

Minimum Position Specific Training Required

Physically able to deploy aboard ship and to remote sites for up to three weeks at a time.

Physically able to perform extended physical labor to include heavy lifting and carrying of PIPs (67 pounds) and other LATR-associated equipment during ship/participant installation.

Experience onboard U.S. Navy ships.

Required Certifications

Must possess a valid state Driver’s License.

Must maintain current CPR/First Aid certification. (Within 6 months of hire date)

Must possess and maintain an active DoD Security clearance

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor degree is preferred.
