Position Title Instrumentation Systems Integration Engineer

Job Summary

Provide senior level system engineering support for the LATR/TCTS and associated systems at VACAPES. Responsible for sustainment improvements to legacy systems and new systems. Improvement of reliability and integration/interaction and data exchange. Develop solutions for one of a kind installations.

Perform engineering and project management, requirements development, system and network design, COTS product evaluation, cost analysis and estimation, procurement, pre-installation development and testing, systems installation and integration, with full integrated logistics support to include configuration management, documentation, and training for Navy approved network and communications projects

Plans, proposes and implements modifications, modernizations, improvements and upgrades of computer systems, communications equipment, for range reconfigurations and new facility and capability buildups. Supports equipment relocation to include cost analysis, optimization studies, engineering studies, integration and installation

Analyze system and communications network requirements to plan for projected growth, and bandwidth loading of new systems or modifications to existing systems

Support mission critical range systems and communications to include engineering, installation, and integration of servers, network appliances, and communications equipment as necessary to meet present and future communication requirements.

Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies

Develop and apply advanced methods, and analytical techniques in research, investigation and solution of complex problems.

Request to improve interoperability, reliability, and maintainability, documented under CM standards in the Integrated Information Management System

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Education Level

Bachelors of Science degree, or higher, in a related engineering field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Experience Requirements

9 years’ experience in systems engineering, system design, analysis, development, integration, testing, configuration management, and documentation

Specific knowledge of and experience with:

Linux and Microsoft Server Development and Deployment

Communications (analog, digital, and voice), Network Communications, Signal and Data Processing, Data Acquisition and Remote Control Interface Development, Computer and Display Systems Development

Advanced Network Troubleshooting of systems and communications links

Network, System and Server Monitoring Tools and Administration of Window, Unix/Linux Operating Systems

Experience installing, configuring and supporting VMWare vSphere/ESX, Windows Server 2008 & 2012 and SQL

Thorough understanding of LAN and WAN technologies including traditional wired and wireless Ethernet as well as carrier Ethernet services, MPLS, Broadband Cable/DSL, PPP, Frame-Relay, and ISDN PRI.

Experience in configuring TACLANE, Cisco Systems, Microwave data links, and wireless mesh, fiber optics and data storage systems (SAN/ NAS DAS)

Required Certifications: Network +, Security +, Operating Systems Cert

Must possess and maintain an active SECRET clearance.

Must possess and maintain a valid state Driver’s License.

Must obtain and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.

May require current COMSEC certification

Preferred Qualifications

Cisco Certified Network Associate

Certified Systems Administrator
