Position Title Communications Coordinator

Purpose and Scope :
The East Coast Communications Coordinator will review and coordinate communication assets in support of fleet-level and other multi-range training requirements. Coordinates with assigned range Mission Coordinators to identify warfighter communication requirements for the East Coast Tactical Training Ranges (ECTTR). Provides range capability briefings and subject matter expertise to users on communications capabilities and limitations. Directly coordinates with warfighter customers in developing communication plans utilizing ECTTR assets, scheduling utilization of communication assets and maintaining fully mission capable communication assets.
Supports assigned East Coast Mission Coordinators in interfacing with exercise participants in the planning and execution of fleet-level exercises focusing on communication requirements.
Provides technical expertise for Large Force Exercises to the CSG-4 Battle Staff and coordinates changes to communications plans.
Ensures communications architecture is developed and implemented during exercises.
Assists with compiling daily after-action mission summary reports of assets relative to mission deviations to participating organizations.
Develops executive-level presentation outlines.
Coordinates with ECMC to ensure unit level range training requirements are de-conflicted with fleet level exercises in order to share ECTTR communications assets accordingly.
Ensures customer service initiatives and feedback on ECTTR communications assets are communicated within the CTTR community and that accurate feedback is followed through with range customers.
Functions as communications liaison/coordinator between customers and VACAPES Range Systems during fleet-level exercise events execution. Ensures Range Operations Command Center (VROCC) is in a high readiness state of communications posture during fleet-level exercises.
Provides support to include recommendations on equipment modifications, software changes and any additions relative to the ECTTR communications programs and equipment.
Assists site technicians and engineers with network Satellite/UHF/VHF/Digital Radio Management System (DRMS) troubleshooting.
Evaluates and monitors all modifications to equipment and change requests to improve operability, reliability and maintainability of all ECTTR communication equipment.
Coordinates, executes and assists communication related training and mentoring to all VACAPES Range Systems personnel. .
Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Must have the ability to work extended hours and support 24 X 7 operations for extended periods. Position involves routine travel (less than 25%). Perform duties at a variety of contract related facilities or locations including offices, mission control rooms, labs and occasionally aboard ship. Duties involve no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of academic/technical/military training and 5 years’ experience in operational military communications with focus on VHF/UHF/HF radios/trancievers, satellite communications (SATCOM).
Possess familiarity with CMS/EKMS at a local users’ level.
Must have good written and speaking communications skills and analytical skills.
Possess working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
Preferred experience and qualifications include:
Tactical exercise development and evaluation
IT/Network Experience: Network+, SecurityNOC experience
Must possess and maintain a government security clearance.
Possess a valid state issued driver’s license.
