AECOM Client Service Manager/Water Resource Project Manager in Tampa, Florida

Job Summary

The Water Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water Resources Project Manager/Technical Leader, who will also serve as a Client Services Manager with a focus in Stormwater/Water Resources, for immediate employment in our West Palm Beach and Tampa, FL offices.

This person will assist in the planning, permitting, design, and construction administration of projects related to stormwater infrastructure and civil land development, to include stormwater treatment areas, conveyance systems, pump stations, and other public infrastructure facilities. This role within AECOM offers an exciting opportunity to focus on a mix of client business growth, project delivery leadership and mentoring of developing engineering staff by leveraging top notch regional and national water resources and stormwater engineering expertise and capabilities to expand AECOM’s Florida area business. The appropriately qualified applicant will be a seller/doer and have the opportunity to manage and work with an established team of professional engineers on a variety of water, storm water, and land development type design projects including stormwater master planning and working with climate resilience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with senior members of our Water Business Line team to seek new municipal business opportunities and develop/lead winning teams

  • Manages projects, including scoping, task management, invoicing and final closeout. Plans, schedules, conducts and/or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work of a major project, or several small-moderate scope projects.

  • Supervises and mentors junior staff – with a focus on stormwater

  • Hydraulic, hydrologic and pollutant loading analyses and modeling

  • Design of conveyance and treatment systems

  • Site Design and Low Impact Development

  • Capital Improvement planning and design for stormwater rehabilitation, maintenance and retrofit projects

  • Watershed and Drainage Basin evaluation and design

  • Construction Inspection and Administration for public infrastructure projects

  • Technical reports and studies

  • State and Federal Permitting

  • Contract Documents, including technical specifications and construction drawings

  • Planning, design, permitting, and construction phase services focused on water resource and land development projects

  • Communicates project tasks between offices – high level of coordination and communication skills required

  • Makes technical presentations

  • Responsibilities may include overseeing the planning and design of various project elements, the preparation of project reports, hydraulic models, calculations, drawings, construction plans and specifications, permitting packages, and documents for inclusion in the final project deliverables as necessary for the bidding and construction of designed works

  • Coordination with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public will be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives

We deliver our services from environmental planning studies to detailed design, construction management, and operations and maintenance to a wide range of public and private sector clients. Our public sector work encompasses everything from small rural communities, to large urban centers, to agencies with regional responsibilities. Our private sector work includes assignments for multiple commercial/industrial sectors, including oil and gas, chemicals, power, food and beverage, manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Water Resources, Environmental or related degree

  • Minimum six (6) years of related experience

  • Stormwater Modeling experience in programs such as AdICPR, ASAD, EPA-SWMM, HEC-Ras and Hydroflow

  • Minimum four (4) years of Civil Site Development experience

  • Must have a proven track record of leading technical engineering and successfully managing water resource and land development projects, resulting in securing additional projects from clients

  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer

  • Experience conducting business development activities, pursuing new clients/projects, and serving as project manager on project deliveries

  • Experience in preparation of engineering proposals for submission to clients

  • Leadership experience managing diverse teams

  • Demonstrated project management experience including delivering projects successfully, on time and on budget

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten (10) years of experience as consulting engineer in the stormwater/water resources field is highly preferred

  • Five (5) years experience working in the West Palm Beach and Tampa area areas for water resources/stormwater utilities is highly preferred

  • Experience mentoring or supervising other engineering professionals

  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with diverse audience groups including clients, the public, regulatory staff, subconsultants and internal technical staff

  • Positive attitude, good aptitude, and strong initiative will integrate well with our existing group of outstanding professionals

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and oversee work of less experienced engineers

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication and listening skills
