AECOM Transport Modeller in Sydney, Australia

Job Summary

AECOM’s Transport Advisory Team is looking for passionate and highly skilled Transport Modellers to support the delivery of major projects transport infrastructure projects with key clients in Sydney.

The Role

The role is focused on project delivery and technical excellence to help drive AECOM’s Transport Advisory business and deliver excellent client outcomes which shape the development of our urban environment. You will provide support on some of the largest and most innovative projects in Australia, working with an industry leading team.

The role is to deliver and lead project technical work working either independently or as part of a team. You will have expertise in the use of operational transport modelling packages and experience in the utilisation of mesoscopic and corridor transport modelling packages for the simulation, analysis and assessment of major urban infrastructure projects.

The role will be contributing to the delivery of high-profile infrastructure projects in the transport end market for a broad range of clients, as well as leading or supporting in the development of opportunities (business development) and preparation of bids.

We are seeking a professional at the junior to mid-level, who has developed technical skills in these areas and is keen to continue to learn and grow, to further develop their career, in a professional, supportive environment.

Minimum Requirements

About You

Responsibilities

  • Ability to contribute to and lead the technical delivery on transport modelling projects as well as technical delivery in the specialism as input to larger, multi-disciplinary projects

  • Motivation to advance and transfer skills in the field of transport planning, transport modelling and traffic / transport advisory services and related specialisms.

  • Demonstrated experience in professional services, preferably in consulting

  • Good technical skills and experience in transport planning and transport modelling

  • Experience in using Vissim, Aimsun, Dynameq, SIDRA, LinSig for transport/ traffic modelling simulation

  • Understanding of the theory of modelling principles across meso and micro platforms and their application in a range of scenarios analysing complex real-world problems

  • Big data analysis and data visualisation with Python, Power BI or Tableau

  • Presenting complex information to technical and non-technical clients

  • Working closely with Clients to build trusted relationships

  • Interest and engagement with professional development opportunities

  • Undergraduate degree in related discipline is essential; Postgraduate qualifications are preferred. Further learning and development (including further study) supported.

  • This role provides significant opportunities for personal and professional growth to contribute to training staff; to contribute to technical development across the Transport Advisory Business in ANZ; to develop as a technical expert and provide technical leadership in transport modelling as part of the ANZ / Global technical excellence stream.

Skills and experience

  • Appropriate tertiary/ discipline qualifications

  • Early to mid career transport and traffic modeller / engineer

  • A broad range of technical skills in the field of transport modelling

  • A proven track record in working on major multidisciplinary transport infrastructure projects

  • Experience in communication with clients and stakeholders to deliver technical outcomes

  • Developed project management skills (desirable).
