AECOM Senior Traffic Engineer in Sydney, Australia

Job Summary

AECOM’s Transport Advisory Team is looking for a passionate and highly driven Senior Transport/ Traffic Engineer to support the delivery of major projects as well as core transport planning and transport engineering projects with key clients in Sydney.

The Role

The role will include:

  • Transport Engineering and Traffic Engineering – the application of standards and guidelines in the planning and design process and an ability to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges

  • Traffic Signal Design – Utilising traffic signal design standards to develop plans and design for new intersections and the upgrade of existing intersections.

  • Road Safety – the application of safe systems principles to develop a safe environment for all road users.

  • Transport Planning – planning for the movement of people across all modes and a range of projects.

  • Transport Operational Modelling – to assess the movement of people in space and understand the implications, and to advise clients accordingly.

The role will focus on the delivery of core projects and major projects. We are seeking a candidate who has developed technical and project management skills, and is keen to continue to learn and grow, to further develop their career, in a professional, supportive environment. The role will also be working with and providing leadership and advice to small teams of planners, engineers, analysts and modellers to assist them to develop technical solutions to clients’ problems through high quality project delivery.

Minimum Requirements

About You

  • Transport engineering and Traffic Engineering experience – demonstrate a sound knowledge of, and experience in the application of, local traffic engineering standards and guidelines in the planning and design process for programs and projects, at a variety of scales.

  • Experience in project management and working directly with clients

  • Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver strong outcomes for clients

  • Traffic Signal Design – experience in traffic signal design in NSW.

  • Transport and Traffic Modelling Experience – use and application of modelling platforms like SIDRA.

  • Experience in Road Safety Audits (RSAs) and Road Safety Assessments is desirable but not essential.

  • Experience in Traffic and Transport Impact Assessments is desirable but not essential.

  • Experience in strategic design development for different project scales (local, intersection, street) is desirable but not essential.

An understanding of project management for small to medium sized projects, across transport planning and/ or transport and traffic engineering and modelling is strongly desirable but not essential.
