Job Description

Our Sydney-based Building Services team are currently looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide design services and advice on some of the most exciting design projects in Australia and world-wide.

You will have the opportunity to work with a broad range of clients and industry sectors including Health, Education, Defence, Commercial and Defence and Data Centers.

Joining a highly motivated and driven team, you will work under the guidance of our team leaders on dynamic and challenging projects, helping to develop you further as an engineer of the future. As a growing professional, you will contribute to the delivery of moderate to large-scale projects and develop your technical skills across a range of mechanical systems.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer in our Building Services team, you will:

  • Work on projects from a range of market sectors, including Commercial, High-tech, Healthcare, Education and Defence and Data Centers.

  • Deliver design services and advice.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Support the team with internal and external client delivery.

  • Grow your technical skills as part of an experienced team.

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to graduate engineers; and be guided and mentored by more senior engineers.

  • Perform supervised work in accordance with agreed budget and schedule.

  • Assist in work planning and programming within the team.

Whilst the role contains a significant technical component, the team culture of social interaction and inclusion is a key aspect that makes AECOM such a great place to work. You will be supported from Day 1 and also expected to proactively contribute to this highly interactive team culture.

Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment where technical excellence and team working skills are paramount.

The following experience would be highly regarded:

  • BEng in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

  • Proven experience working for a Building Services Consultancy or have demonstrable technical design experience working as a Mechanical Engineer in a Contractor or State Government organisation.

  • Sound understanding of HVAC Engineering design principals and Australian regulatory standards.

  • Experience in Data Centers, Defence and Health is preferred.

  • Experience in project leadership, with proven ability in both overseeing and producing creative design solutions.

  • Exposure and experience with managing financial and contractual aspects of projects and advantage.

  • Experience in managing projects and client relations

  • Experience in detailed coordination with various project design disciplines

  • Demonstrated and strong experience in preparing technical design documentation inclusive of specifications, reports and advice.

  • Ability to manage project priorities and communicate effectively with both internal and external clients around key dates.

  • Exceptional levels of written and oral communication.

  • Enthusiasm for team working and ability to socially support the team culture

  • Proactive interest in developing your career in Mechanical Engineering within Building Services

  • Prior experience or understanding of Revit, not essential but advantageous.
