AECOM Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Sydney, Australia
Due to ongoing growth and some exciting project wins, AECOM is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Sydney office.
Our Ground Engineering and Tunnelling team has many long-term projects, which provide a solid workload. In addition to these are a variety of technical advisor, tender, and design and construction projects throughout Australia as well as globally.
You will have the opportunity to work with and learn from a strong team of geotechnical engineers, pavement engineers and engineering geologists, of all levels. There is also the opportunity to be involved with projects from the earliest stages of planning, ground investigation, design, all the way through to construction and operational management phases.
Your experience will enable you to immediately contribute to the team. However, ongoing personal development is a major driver of the AECOM business. AECOM provides support and mentoring locally and from the greater ANZ business to ensure our staff develop the skills and experience necessary to meet and exceed our client’s expectations.
You will be responsible for overseeing completion of desk studies, ground investigations, factual and interpretive reporting, and undertaking geotechnical design. As part of this role you will be given the opportunity to travel and work on a range of assignments across Australia and New Zealand.
You will also assist in preparation of bids and proposals and attend meetings with contractors and clients, both external and internal and work on multi-disciplinary project design teams. Depending on your interest there is scope to become involved in the management of projects.
As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be engaged, and excited by project delivery and the successful integration of varied specialist and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have:
Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential)
Solid field competencies (highly valued)
Confident with using specialist geotechnical software such as PLAXIS, SlopeW, gINT and the Rocscience suite.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of CAD and/or GIS would be an advantage
Willingness to travel for limited periods.
A current NSW driver’s license (or equivalent).
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
Post-graduate qualifications (highly valued)
