Job Summary

Professional Water/Wastewater Planner

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Water/Wastewater Planner join the AECOM Sydney Integrated Water Planning team. We are a team of industry leaders who pride ourselves on the delivery of innovative water planning projects, particularly in the areas of master planning, growth servicing, network planning, strategic planning for both water and recycled water networks, detailed planning for a growing portfolio of large infrastructure projects and integrated water planning for urban development and growth corridor projects for developer and utility clients.

You will be responsible for project delivery within our industry leading Water Planning business. You will work on complex, large-scale projects that deliver great outcomes for our clients. You will be a key member of multi-disciplined engineering, construction and operation teams, collaborate regularly with our ANZ and global team to support project pursuit efforts and to help harness the full value of our global expertise to create valued water solutions. Examples of projects that we have recently delivered or are currently delivering include Prospect to Macarthur Pipeline and the Sydney Water Blueprint Program.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver valued water network planning solutions that are focused on flexibility, sustainability, optimisation, integration, whole-of-lifecycle cost and acceptable risk.

  • Creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual technical and client challenges.

  • Collaborating with local, regional, and global AECOM colleagues as part of project delivery including within design, environment, geotechnical, digital engineering, community consultation, advisory, asset and information management

  • Establishing and maintaining a positive rapport with internal and external water and related clients including major and regional urban utilities, developers, local and state government, etc.

  • Delivery of high-quality and timely technical outputs that meets with client expectations

  • Proactive in project delivery to maintain high performing, engaged and supportive team culture

  • Assisting with checking of project deliverables – calculations, specifications, reports where required

  • Facilitating pursuits and supporting general business development activities where required

  • Providing guidance and support to graduate engineers within the team

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree civil, environmental or chemical engineering, science (various) or demonstrate equivalent.

  • At least 3 years post-graduate water industry experience, most likely in private sector consulting engineering, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.

  • In depth network planning experience that demonstrates the development and evaluation of options and proficient in hydraulic network modelling of water and/or wastewater systems.

  • Well informed on current and potential future policy, practice, trends, technology, and information affecting water planning, including drivers, regulation, framework and guidelines

  • Appreciation of clients within the water and other water-related markets such as land development, private water utilities, local and state government as in major urban water utilities, regional authorities etc.

  • Inspired to train our junior members within the team

  • Champion of new ideas, encouraging initiative and promoting innovative techniques or actions

Preferred Qualifications
