AECOM Principal Water Planner in Sydney, Australia
AECOM’s Sydney Integrated Water Planning team is growing and we have a fantastic opportunity for a Principal Planner to join and lead the team.
We are a team of industry leaders who pride ourselves on the delivery of innovative water planning projects for a diverse range of clients. Key focus areas include growth servicing, strategic planning for water, wastewater and recycled water networks, detailed planning for a growing portfolio of large infrastructure projects, urban development and growth corridor projects.
You will be a key member of multi-disciplined engineering, construction and operation teams, collaborate regularly with our ANZ and global team to support project pursuit efforts and to help harness the full value of our global expertise to create valued water solutions. Examples of projects that we have recently delivered or are currently delivering include Prospect to Macarthur Pipeline and the Sydney Water Blueprint Program.
You will be responsible for project delivery and contributing to growing, shaping and maintaining our industry leading Integrated Water Planning business through engagement with existing and new clients. You will work on complex, large-scale projects that deliver great outcomes for our clients.
Business development including client engagement, proposal preparation and bid management.
Proactive delivery of high-quality and timely valued water network planning solutions that are focused on flexibility, sustainability, optimisation, integration, whole-of-lifecycle cost and acceptable risk.
Creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.
Collaborating with local, regional, and global AECOM colleagues as part of project delivery including disciplines such as design, environment, geotechnical, digital engineering, community consultation, advisory, asset and information management.
Strong client focus, including establishing and maintaining a long-term successful relationships with internal and external water and related clients including major and regional urban utilities, developers, local and state government, etc.
Checking and review of project outputs, including project deliverables (calculations, specifications, reports) through to technical verification and peer review (as appropriate to level of experience.
Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers within the water planning team and maintaining a high performing, engaged and supportive team culture.
As a Principal Planner, you will be engaged, and excited by project delivery and the successful integration of varied specialist and multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
Ideally, you will have:
Relevant post-graduate water industry experience, preferably in private sector consulting engineering, with exposure to medium-large and multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.
In depth network planning experience that demonstrates the development and evaluation of options and proficient in hydraulic network modelling of water and/or wastewater systems.
Well informed on current and potential future policy, practice, trends, technology, and information affecting water planning, including drivers, regulation, framework and guidelines.
Appreciation of clients within the water and other water-related markets such as land development, private water utilities, local and state government as in major urban water utilities, regional authorities etc.
Inspired to provide technical direction, mentor and train our junior members within the team.
Champion of new ideas, encouraging initiative and promoting innovative techniques or actions.
- Bachelor's degree civil, environmental or chemical engineering, science (various) or demonstrate equivalent.
