Job Description

Due to a strong pipeline of work, AECOM is expanding its dynamic and market-leading rail team in Sydney. We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced track design engineers to support and deliver our rail pipeline. This is a fantastic opportunity to be actively involved in an innovative and highly motivated team of professionals and be instrumental in delivering landmark projects within Sydney and across Australia.

Subject to your skills and experience, this role could see you perform a supporting or leading role on complex rail infrastructure projects of all sizes. You will be responsible for the development of permanent way design solutions including alignment and componentry and through concept to detailed design and construction support. You will coordinate solutions and designs with other rail and civil engineering teams and lead or participate in design and risk workshops as well as interdisciplinary checks and reviews.

You will be responsible for ensuring work is undertaken following the required local and national standards and legislation.

As a Track Engineer, you will:

  • Lead or support the design and coordination of new railways, new depots, track renewals, and turnout renewals covering Sydney Trains, TfNSW, and various ANZ transit projects.

  • Be able to coach and guide more junior members team of the team and offer experience and shared lessons from previous roles.

  • Build, maintain and manage strong office, client, and stakeholder relationships through technical delivery excellence.

  • Help lead or identify work-winning opportunities to grow AECOM's project pipeline within the track and alignment discipline area.

  • Ensure that all activities are performed safely and comply with AECOM and Client's OH&S requirements

Qualifications

Knowledge of rail track and alignment design is essential for this role as well as having a strong understanding of all the relevant interfacing disciplines within the rail corridor environment. Knowledge and ability to undertake rail track inspections and condition assessment would be advantageous but not essential for this role.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Appropriate years' experience within the track discipline and experience in delivering complex multi-disciplinary rail projects.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with both internal and external clients around key dates.

  • Experience preparing design models, reports, and detailed drawings including Bentley OpenRail or Bentley Rail Track (BRT) experience or ability.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant track and permanent way standards from a national or local level.

  • Ability to achieve and maintain high levels of quality and consistency of output and ability to work autonomously and take responsibility for the quality of deliverables and meeting deadlines.

  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card.

  • Be a Chartered Engineer or be working towards a Chartered Engineer (EA, or other recognised Professional body).

  • RPEQ / NER Qualifications, desirable but not essential.

  • ARTC Track Designer or Track Verifier / Approver, desirable but not essential.

  • Relevant Engineering Degree, desirable but not essential subject to experience.
