AECOM Associate / Technical Director (Geotechnical) in Sydney, Australia

Job Summary

Our Ground Engineering and Tunnelling Team has an opportunity for a director-level Geotechnical Engineer in Sydney. This permanent role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to support a broad range of projects in New South Wales. Working within a global, multi-disciplinary organisation, this opportunity may also see you assisting with building our offering across Australia and Internationally.

In this role, you will provide technical input to projects across a broad range of engineering areas, depending on your experience but potentially including: site investigations, tunnelling, earthworks, pavements, foundations for buildings, retaining walls and bridges and slope stability studies.

Your demonstrated experience in design consultancy and strong technical capability will enable you to lead geotechnical design teams and design programs from options-analysis through to detailed design. As a highly experienced practitioner in the local market, you will play an active role in winning and delivering projects, as well as mentoring more junior engineers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience in a similar role.

  • Design consulting experience (essential).

  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing complex projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential).

  • Client-centric approach.

  • Passion for delivering high quality work on time, every time.

  • Knowledgeable in the theoretical aspects of geotechnical engineering.

  • Experience in formulating investigation and design methodologies.

  • Experience in the detailed checking of deliverables for technical accuracy and presentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Post-graduate qualifications (highly valued).

  • Professional Accreditation – Chartered (essential).

  • Proficient in the use of Geotechnical Design Software.
