Job Summary
As the Office BIM/Information Lead you will have obtained good relevant industry experience using industry standard CAD/BIM software. He/She will carry out a wide range of tasks as detailed below in support of BIM enabled Rail Projects.
Key Accountabilities:
As an Office BIM/Information Management Lead you will have obtained a recognised technical qualification with substantial relevant industry experience and will be responsible for the office production of engineering CAD/BIM models using industry standard modelling software. The role will also include working with the Digital Sector Lead to ensure that technical standards and protocol for managing the use of this software.
The Office BIM/Information Management Lead function will include liaising with the Project Managers regarding project related CAD/BIM and digital project delivery. They will work closely with the Sector Digital Lead and the Office Discipline Leads in respect of establishing discipline specific processes and workflows, technical requirements and implementing and maintaining Company Policy in respect of CAD/BIM Modelling.
The role will require and include establishing local skills and competencies, drawing on skills that currently exist and developing new enthusiastic individuals within their office or location.
Under the guidance and leadership of the Sector Digital Lead , the office BIM Lead will work and assist with mentoring, developing and delivering appropriate training throughout their office or location. The BIM Lead will be the local “focus for excellence” in all aspects of CAD/BIM and digital project delivery.
They will be capable of making a significant contribution to the growth of the Sector by proactively identifying opportunities for business advantage through innovative use of CAD/BIM technology.
They will look to promote and seek to identify CAD & BIM work packages for outsourcing to our Global Design Centres in order to reduce production costs and improve margin.
Collaborate with the Sector Digital Lead in all aspects of company-wide CAD/BIM technology with regards to the development of digital project delivery with the EMIA DPD Team and downstream embedding of new processes locally.
Liaise with clients with regards to project requirements around project needs.
Establish CAD/BIM Modelling skills within the office.
Implement CAD/BIM Modelling techniques and processes to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production process.
Implement and maintain CAD/BIM Modelling Standards and protocol.
Collaborating with the Digital Project Delivery team in respect of embedding new technology into delivery workflows and processes.
Establishing Information Management within the team and ensuring use and compliance of CDE requirements.
Maintain an overview of developments in CAD/BIM technologies, relevant BIM standards and Codes of Practice.
Have an involvement in preparing Work Winning and project bid submission material and presentations requiring local CAD/BIM Modelling.
Ensure all project data is correctly created and managed within the Common Data Environment (CDE) in accordance with company and project requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Production experience within a Rail design and drafting role
BIM enabled technology/software experience
In-depth working knowledge of BIM software
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player with leadership capabilities
Ability to take on additional responsibilities, maximise efficiency, manage priorities
Self-motivated, directed and managed
Work independently and manage multiple tasks under constant deadlines
Consistently meet deadlines and complete tasks as defined
Anticipate, identify, resolve problems in a timely and positive manner
Take initiative, respond to issues, constraints and opportunities
Software :
Manage software products including incorporating new version releases and customisation
Strong experience in the administration of ProjectWise including Datasource configuration
Strong experience in the use of Bentley Design Products to include Microstation,
ProStructures or AECOsim/OpenBuildings,
Strong experience in the use of Clash Detection Products to include Navigator and Navisworks
Manage the implementation, Installations and of supporting software for BIM on Projects
Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies
Keep up to date on best practices
Stay informed on other BIM related software
and support of BIM software
Preferred Qualifications
Standards :
Knowledge of Network Rail CAD & BIM Standards and procedures
Responsible for BIM standards development, implementation and enforcement on Projects
Creation and maintenance of the software templates files
Provide support for plotting and electronic file submission
Sound knowledge of BS1192 BS and EN ISO 19650
Quality control of completeness and adherence to standards for drawings
Assist in developing and enforcing BIM documentation and workflow processes where required
Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of BIM &CAD Technicians to ensure BIM standards are
maintained within the BIM & PIM models and content libraries.
Support :
Provide hardware, network and project support as it relates to BIM production
Support the BIM technology needs
Troubleshoot problems
Assist with Tenders and BIM Execution Plans
Reviewing of Employers Information Requirements
Liaison with support staff and support channels
Training :
- Provide Project related training for CDE,CAD Standards and BIM & CAD
tools, standards and procedures
Provide on-going project related internal training from fundamental to intermediate levels
Provide technical orientation to new staff regarding Project BIM tools
Maintain high level of competency of software through continued use and training
Project Interface :
Collaborative team experience
Implementation and alignment of client standards
Network Rail Project experience
Multi discipline coordination experience
Modelling methodology, use of project federated model
TIDP & MIDIP Experience
Management of 2D & 3D Data
ProjectWise Management
External supplier’s coordination experience
Support project standards
Be able to conduct Project IDC/IDR meetings around the BIM
Experienced in providing guidance in response to project needs
Help resolve BIM design issues
Experienced with Linking BIM to additional applications
Experienced in liaising with third parties including client
Perform clash avoidance checks/reports
Perform quality assurance/quality checks
