Job Summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a highly-motivated individual to play an important role within our growing Water Resources Team. Increasing demands for our services have created an opportunity in St Albans to be involved in the delivery of major schemes and provide professional services within the water sectors. We are looking for a Senior Water Engineer / Consultant, capable of working independently where required, and also able to lead design or project teams.

Job Duties

Key responsibilities will include carrying out flood investigations, feasibility studies, detailed designs, and preparing reports, technical specifications and proposals for water related projects. This role may include undertaking FCERM activities for clients such as the Environment Agency and Lead Local Flood Authorities. The role will also involve supporting business development activities

Specific Skills Required

  • Able to take full responsibility for producing and checking reports and designs;

  • Detailed knowledge of one, or all, of the follow;

  1. The use of ISIS/Tuflow, Flood Modeller and Infoworks ICM

  2. Water Resource Planning Guidelines, Water Framework Directive (WFD) and a desire to develop new approaches

  3. UK legislation affecting flooding, surface water management, water resource planning and water companies

  4. Delivering FCERM activities for or on behalf of the Environment Agency and a Lead Local Flood Authority

  5. Providing consultation responses to planning applications on behalf of a flood risk or water authority

  6. General knowledge/understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, able to communicate with Stakeholders in these fields.

  • Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams, and able to lead and mentor junior staff from a variation of professional backgrounds

  • Excellent communication skills and able to represent AECOM in Client facing roles at all levels

  • Accustomed to working at the highest levels of HSSE compliance at all design stages

Minimum Requirements

  • Good relevant experience

Additional Comments

  • Ideally the candidate will be a Chartered Member of a relevant professional body, or close to Chartership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Masters in Civil/Environmental Engineering or another relevant discipline. Alternative qualifications may be considered where a candidate can demonstrate significant relevant experience.
