Due to exceptional growth in demand for our services we are currently recruiting for enthusiastic individuals with a track record of integrating climate adaptation as well as wider sustainability into infrastructure join our Climate Change, Sustainability and Resilience (CCSR) practice.
Our CCSR practice has a well-deserved reputation with FTSE100 and Fortune500 clients, governments, financial institutions, infrastructure owners and operators for Net Zero Resilience and ESG technical advisory services. We support clients to understand how the future climate and transition to net zero needs to be considered at a project, business and city level. We produce robust carbon footprints and reduction plans for enterprises, projects and products as well as supporting climate change risk assessment and resilience and adaptation planning for infrastructure assets, businesses, cities, and urban master plans.
We also help clients with net zero planning, risk assessment, strategy development, project preparation, capacity-building, and reporting to support their ESG programmes. Our work provides clients with greater confidence in decision making, business planning and operation of major projects, individual assets, multinational portfolios, and cities. The practice works across a wide range of sectors including highways, rail, aviation, power, water utilities and urban regeneration, industrials, manufacturing, FMCG, chems/pharmas, and financial services.

We are seeing an increase in demand for climate risk assessment and associated adaptation and resilience strategies. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to:
Strengthen our position as a leader in climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies for infrastructure, large-scale regeneration, and cities both in the UK and across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
Develop our climate change resilience service offerings with practical and viable solutions for clients.
Deliver our ambitious business plan; growing our share of the market in infrastructure and wider urban resilience and climate adaptation by winning work with new/existing clients in the UK and across the EMEA region.
Support our infrastructure and urban design teams deliver more climate resilient projects.
Ensure effective delivery through project and financial management for complex assignments.
Maintain high quality professional outputs.
Develop talent within the team through line management and mentoring and support the upskilling of our colleagues on climate change.
You will be supported by your line manager with regular mentoring and in continuing your professional development with training and support for chartership.
The successful candidate(s) will work collaboratively to deliver a range of climate change, ESG and sustainability projects for infrastructure projects, multi-national businesses, international finance institutions, development banks, local, regional, and national governments as well as supporting senior leaders in the practice and wider Environment & Sustainability Business Unit to grow the practice. We work from a range of our UK offices and are proud to have our Freedom to Grow programme which supports flexible working.
We are looking for established practitioners with the following:
Experience in climate risk assessment of infrastructure systems and assets, including developing/designing adaptation and resilient solutions (incl. engineered and natural solutions) for infrastructure.
Experience across a range of infrastructure sectors: urban infrastructure, transport, water/wastewater, waste, energy, etc.
Technical knowledge and / or training in a relevant field, such as civil or environmental engineering, infrastructure planning and development, urban planning, policy and governance, or urban economic development;
Proven track record in winning and delivering infrastructure and/or urban/regional climate risk assessment and adaptation strategies both in the UK and overseas.
Experience with climate change mitigation and adaptation projects and strong understanding of the role that infrastructure interventions, spatial planning and governance play to increase sustainability and resilience of development.
Familiarity with climate projections including using them to build the case with colleagues, clients and their advisors for resilient and adaptive design and planning. Ability to use climate projections at spatial scales an advantage.
Familiarity with wider sustainability and Net Zero, and linkages with adaptation and resilience for infrastructure and urban development.
Experience managing small teams including subcontractors in the delivery of technical outputs, and strong understanding of commercial aspects of project management.
A desire to deliver technical excellence.
A solution-oriented self-starter who can design and deliver work under own initiative.
Commercial awareness for technical delivery, business development, marketing, and proposal preparation.
Strong industry profile with experience presenting at conferences and publishing knowledge products in professional journals or other channels.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English with experience managing stakeholder engagement events and capacity building workshops. Fluency in other languages an advantage.
