AECOM is currently seeking a Project and Business Development Lead to be based in either London, St. Albans or Cambridge . You will be in charge to support the Healthcare Director in help managing the operations and work to grow the teams work pipeline in this exciting sector.
You will take the lead on projects and be the main contact for clients and your project team, whilst also supporting the director with work winning, client relations, technical control and enhancing AECOM’s reputation in the sector.

Our Building & Places division provides a multidisciplinary offering consisting of a variety of consultancy services ranging from Civil, Structural and MEP Engineering, Cost Management, Quantity Surveying and Environmental.
Our building services team consists of over 400 people nationwide. The mechanical and electrical engineers we have in our team specialise in healthcare, education, pharmaceutical, sports, and leisure. We are market leaders on large international projects as well as small scale local experts who seek to improve communities through strong design and infrastructure projects.

Some of our flagship work in recent years include; The Luisal Artscape Expressway in Qatar, Olympic venues, Boka Bay Beach Resort, a carbon neutral University Science Centre and the St Pancras Chambers Hotel in London to name but a few.
Throughout UK & Ireland we advise on a wide range of healthcare facilities that demand detailed knowledge and specialist skill sets, from pioneering facilities such as proton beam therapy centres and acute hospitals equipped with advanced technologies to mental health facilities, community health centres and hospices. The team were recently awarded Property Consultant of the Year at the Health Investor Awards 2018.
You will be responsible for assisting the Healthcare Director with work winning, managing the operations of projects, planning and quality control. This is a senior position, so you will be a qualified engineer who has had experience of consultancy project management and be looking to join an established and successful team which is managing a large volume of projects.
Ideally provide a support role in work winning within the sector or to grow into that role
Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment on and review tender returns
Attend tender/client interviews
Receive brief from Senior Management, be able to carry out the project management and oversee the MEP design and carry out technical control on the specific discipline they are skilled in
Be able to manage MEP and multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating input from other AECOM specialisms
Prepare reports / technical content of the design information for all stages of a project
Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA stages
Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed. Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other design Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients
Link into the wider AECOM building engineering healthcare team, undertaking peer reviews and sharing best practice with other offices
Assess staff requirements at each work stage, agreeing these with the PD and team
Attend progress, design team and co-ordination meetings
Attend site inspection meetings
Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme
Be competent with engineering calculations and relevant software
Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy
A good technical understanding of building services within the Healthcare sector, including knowledge of HTMs and HBNs
Significant track record of successfully leading design teams on healthcare projects
Experience in project and client management within a defined fee budget and program
Experience of various procurement routes, including D&B and traditional, as well as healthcare-specific routes such as PFI and Procure 22
Experience in identifying and winning new work and building client relationships
Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations
- Degree qualified and chartered with a relevant engineering body
