AECOM has a new job vacancy for a Civil Engineer with a bias to below ground building and development drainage as well as private road design to join our small and busy team in our St Albans office in Hertfordshire.
As a Civil/Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for the production and management of technical designs, and report writing.
Our focus is drainage within our developments property boundaries and how these connected to external infrastructure. You will work with the team to produce flood risk assessments, schematic designs, masterplan designs, drawings and specifications for infrastructure projects associated with public and privately funded developments as well as international projects.

Your role will involve managing the day to day operations of our projects and solving challenging engineering problems relating to drainage and roads on our nationwide and sometimes international projects, you will do this with your team in a positive and close-knit environment.
As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical design, production and review of the projects which will be reviewed and certified by others.
In addition to your design and small-scale project management responsibilities you will be required to plan and provide resourcing schedules, financial planning and fee proposals associated with your project or part of the project you are responsible for. You will do this with support from our Principal and Associate Directors.
You will also be required to assist and will learn to produce proposals for new commissions and undertake project management and financial control of a project or part of a project you are responsible for. As always with AECOM we consider ourselves client facing so your role will involve liaison with clients, local authorities and representatives from external organisations.
Preferred Technical Experience:
You will be experienced and able to use computer modelling and design software associated with below ground drainage designs, road design, earthworks and specification writing (i.e. MicroDrainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D, NBS Buildings and NBS Create).
You must be experienced in the production of detailed design information, technical reports, drawings, tender documents & specifications, integration with BIM for public and private developments.
You will be familiar with Design Standards such as Sewers for Adoption, Building Regulations, National Planning Policy Framework, Code for Sustainable Homes, BREEAM and LEED , the Specifications for Highways works and other relevant British Infrastructure regulations.
Relevant degree or professional qualification relating to Civil Engineering
Work experience within a similar consultancy or other relevant business relating to drainage design.
A clear work history and proof of professional development and learning.
Ideally you will live locally to the office or be willing to relocate.
It would be a major plus if you have experience with adoptable standards including the negotiation of Section 104 and 106.
