The Role:
The Associate Director will be responsible for the leading teams designing science research projects in both the UK and overseas. . This will involve winning work, client care, recruitment, mentoring and leading teams to prepare scheme and detailed engineering designs. The successful candidate will have proven design experience, delivering to quality, time and budget. This role will suit someone with who is enthusiastic, self motivated, and looking to advance their career.
Duties of the role will include, but not be limited to;
Work winning – securing opportunities, preparing proposals, presentations,
Developing Client relationships
Though leadership, preparing design guidance
Leading a team.
Mentoring and developing staff.
Project Managing major projects
Assessing staff requirements at each work stage, and be able to manage single disciplinary and multi-disciplinary projects.
Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants to provide a fully coordinated design.
Ensure the Design Team is kept fully informed of all technical and other information necessary for the duration of the project.
Undertake the control of all production aspects of the projects in the team.
Ensure compliance with all Statutory and Regulatory obligations, make submissions to the Statutory Authorities and obtain approvals as necessary.
Produce all design information and ensure that all calculations are prepared and signed off in accordance with the requirements of the IMS, relevant Standards and Codes of Practice.
Represent AECOM at Client, Design Team and Progress meetings throughout the design and construction phases of projects.
Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.
Attend tender / client interviews.
Attend site inspection meetings.
Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme.
Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A strong technical understanding of building services
The ability to work accurately, independently and efficiently, and to take ownership of projects.
Effective communication skills and be a team worker
Significant track record of leading design teams on Science projects
Experience in project and client management within a defined fee budget and program, including managing team resources and interfacing with other disciplines.
Mentoring and support skills for the less senior engineers and technicians in the electrical team.
Experience in identifying and winning new work and building client relationships.
Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chartered Engineer with CIBSE/IMechE/IET
