Our Transportation business line is always growing, so our Roads team have a vacancy for an Associate Director (Streets) in our St Albans office.
You will have a consistent record of business development, project delivery and team leadership within a consultancy environment covering highway and traffic planning, engineering and management with demonstrable experience within the detailed design stage of projects. We are looking for creative and flexible individuals to develop strong working relationships with local clients and help us grow our business throughout the South-East. Ensure technical content and quality of output produced is in line with the project brief,
Handle the preparation of feasibility, preliminary and detailed designs for traffic engineering schemes,
Lead the preparation of detailed technical reports providing specialist technical contributions as required,
Act as a Project Director and Project Manager including monitoring financial performance. Comprehensive training on AECOM’s project management system will be provided.
Establish strong working relationships with local clients in the South-East region through business development and being the key point of contact for meetings and client liaison,
Develop strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s Transportation division, working with colleagues to deliver marketing and business development objectives in both the local region and nationally,
Prepare detailed proposals, client briefs and fee proposals and contribute to major bids as required.
Actively contribute to the management of the St, Albans Streets team, deputising for St. Albans Office Lead as required.
With dedication, support recruitment activity to continue to grow the local team.
Assist with the career progression of line reports and ensure strong staff development and mentoring arrangements are in place.
Monitor team skills and ensure they are up to date with industry-leading methods and techniques and promote innovative thinking
Promote a health and safety-focused culture by undertaking mandatory duties, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members, and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.
A successful track record in the management and delivery of a portfolio of highway and traffic engineering projects, including an ability to effectively manage project commercial risks,
An ability to manage and develop a team, with strong leadership skills and the ability to maintain a highly motivated project delivery team,
A successful track record of work winning including preparation of high-quality technical bids and proposals,
Proven experience in developing business and forming strong client relationships as well as being able to deal directly with clients and engage and influence at a senior level within client organisations,
A good industry profile with the gravitas to represent AECOM with major clients,
An ability to demonstrate high level of experience and technical expertise in the following areas:
Highway Engineering design (particularly through the detailed design stage).
Traffic engineering design (particularly through the detailed design stage).
Cycling and walking design
Experience in preparing detailed client briefs and brief responses, fee proposals and experience in contributing to major bids
A flexible approach to supporting project and business development activities across UK and Ireland plus wider AECOM geographies
The project management of highway and traffic projects
A relevant degree and will have appropriate Chartered status with membership of a professional institution.
