AECOM has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer at our Springfield, VA location. The selected candidate will independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Performs responsible and varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other disciplines. Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works. Solves problems by use of combination of standard procedures, modifications of same or methods developed in previous assignments. Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position. Receives general instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions. Independent development of work requirements expected. This position requires proof of US Citizenship and a current TS/SCI Clearance.
Engineer will develop/design solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across the mechanical engineering discipline.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018 required.
Excellent communication and leadership skills, as this individual will be working with both internal and external clients.
The applicant shall have an understanding of typical codes such as ASHRAE 90.1, UMC, IMC, and UFC.
Experience with Operations & Maintenance responsibilities; experience supporting tradesmen in analyzing/troubleshooting system issues.
Data and trending analysis to determine desired upgrades or process improvements.
Must be a US citizen.
Must have an active, fully adjudicated TS security clearance.
5+ years of direct experience.
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2018.
Familiarity with UMC, IMC, ASHRAE 90.1, UFC.
Experience designing HVAC and Hydronic systems, data center cooling systems, Building Management Systems-BMS.
Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing and briefing preparation.
Professional Engineer (PE) certification is required. If expired, must be able to obtain PE certification within 90 days of date of hire.
Active TS/SCI w/poly is preferred.
Certified Energy Manager or Certified Facility Manager.
Experience with CMMS software, Archibus preferred.
