AECOM is seeking a Facilities Mechanic for our maintenance team within pharmaceutical complex in South San Francisco, CA!
- Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm; scheduled hours may vary based on critical business demand.
This position is responsible for providing an advanced level of expertise in responding to work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventative maintenance on facilities systems, including but not limited to mechanical and HVAC equipment, motors, pumps, plumbing and piping, drains, and related equipment .
May perform machine repairs and general non-licensed maintenance work, as well as collaborate with other licensed trades as directed.
Must have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHU’s, split systems, compressors, refrigeration , etc. in an industrial grade environment.
Requires strong mechanical/electrical skills, including the ability to work safely with 3-phase power up to and including 480V. Effectively communicates with the site management team and the customer to understand requirements, solve complex system issues, and provide solutions to manufacturing problems. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate the strong organizational/time management skills needed to be successful in this role.
The Facilities Mechanic must have the ability to identify and correct any safety-related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential equipment failures. General Maintenance of equipment will also be required.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs facility equipment as necessary.
Analyzes equipment failures, inspects, replaces, alters, and maintains in good repair all building and production services and related equipment.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs facility mechanical systems; pneumatic and/or hydraulic systems; conveyors; and associated fixtures and equipment.
Conducts preventive maintenance inspections and performs required preventive maintenance actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc.
Troubleshoots and repairs blowers and fans.
Performs basic pipefitting repairs.
Troubleshoots and repairs basic electrical issues.
Ensures all appropriate mechanical operations, standards, controls, and specifications, are maintained at a high level of quality. Systems and equipment will include pumps, fans, heat exchangers, valves, etc.
Creates and modifies site operations procedures for equipment and recommends facilities reliability improvements.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as scheduled in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Responds and provides service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while assuring compliance to codes, regulations and industry standards.
Recommends measures to improve maintenance methods and equipment performance.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems
Understands company policies and enforces safety regulations.
Safely performs functions of the position including following proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis and lockout/tagout procedures and wearing PPE as required.
Operates various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficiency solutions.
Operates a variety of equipment such as hand tools, laptop computers and diagnostic hardware to perform work.
Maintains a strict schedule in order to be successful in the assignment, yet demonstrates flexibility in the day-to-day activities and scheduling for the benefit of the customer.

High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
Six years of experience performing mechanical facility maintenance in an industrial, biomedical or pharmaceutical environment , or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience.
Qualified applicants offered a position must be able to obtain site specific security access including all applicable background checks.
Qualified applicants must pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and be able to successfully complete a fit test for each type of respirator needed for the position or for an approved alternate respirator that provides equal or better protection from identified hazards.

This position may require a valid Driver’s License.

This position may require various shifts, weekends, and alternative work schedules.
Requires the ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Requires the ability to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladder, stepladders, and stairs at least 10 times during shift.
Requires the flexibility to bend/stoop, squat repetitive during shift.
Requires the ability to regularly kneel repetitive for shift.
Requires the ability to move in a 90-degree fashion on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis for shift.
Requires the ability to walk extensively throughout the plant during shift.
Requires the use of a Company/Client approved utility knife.
Requires the ability to differentiate colors pertaining to wire color-coding.
Some tasks will require repetitive wrist movement.
Requires the ability to interact with all clients in a professional and friendly manner despite periods of stress.
Wear steel toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats and other Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment so that acceptable levels of performance and overall contribution are maintained
Associate’s degree in HVAC, industrial mechanical, industrial electrical, or a related skilled trade.
Experience performing hands-on maintenance and repair of mechanical building systems in a large research and development facility.
Experience programming, troubleshooting and/or repairing HVAC with building automation systems (especially Honeywell/Siemens ) in an industrial or research facility environment.
Experience working safely with 480 volt 3 phase electrical systems.
Experience performing basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
Experience performing pipefitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work.
Certified in B.A.S. or Energy Management systems.
Experience working in a CMMS environment.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required. May be required to work holidays and weekends.
