AECOM Staff Geologist /Environmental Scientist in Seattle, Washington

The Environment Division of AECOM is actively seeking a Geologist or Environmental Scientist for the Seattle, WA office. This position will support a variety of environmental cleanup projects by assisting with a variety of tasks, both in the office and in the field. The selected candidate will be engaged in a wide range of projects, predominantly under Washington MTCA regulations.
The successful candidate will have experience supporting environmental project managers, conducting environmental fieldwork, and writing environmental technical reports. This role will require general, multi-disciplinary knowledge relating to environmental site assessments, remedial investigation, risk assessment, and remedial alternatives evaluation. The candidate will work in a team environment and must be able to work both independently and in a team setting. Roles would also include assisting in developing cleanup strategies and working towards site closures with regulators. There are opportunities for career growth in diverse areas, including but not limited to, project management, client interaction, and regulatory involvement.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Sampling environmental media (soil, groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, etc.)
Coordinate and manage subcontractors on site
Data evaluation of environmental media
Development of work plans, memorandums, reports, correspondence, and various other documents
Responsibilities may include the preparation of site characterization studies, data analysis, remedial investigations, feasibility studies, and other technical support of environmental projects.
Job duties will involve both field and office assignments with occasional overnight travel required. On an average this will be a 50-50 split between office and field work.
Bachelor in Geology, Environmental Science or related
Minimum 2 years of experience in environmental site investigation and characterization, environmental fieldwork, and report writing.
Solid verbal and written communication skills
Experience working on sites in Washington preferred
Licensed or close to becoming licensed as Geologist strongly preferred
Knowledge of Washington State Model Toxic Control Act (MTCA), Model Remedies, Vapor Intrusion guidance
Experience with the assessment and remediation of petroleum contaminated Sites
Familiarity with waste regulations and disposal
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
Current HAZWOPER certification and demonstrated commitment to safety
Energetic and detail-oriented, with collaborative style and innovative approach
