Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Industrial Hygiene Technician for immediate employment for the Seattle, WA office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The candidate will provide industrial hygiene and environmental field work in support of the Environmental Compliance group servicing clients primarily in Seattle, Washington. These services include: conducting air, bulk, and wipe sampling (e.g., asbestos, lead, silica), assessing buildings for regulated building materials (e.g., asbestos, lead, PCBs), noise exposure monitoring and mapping, and abatement project monitoring.

Duties may include:.

  • Field and office activities to support industrial hygiene and environmental sampling. The work may be performed on night shift.

  • Perform routine sampling and monitoring tasks, using established procedures as directed by management and assigned Industrial Hygienists.

  • Keep associated records in accordance with AECOM procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • An AA/AS in Safety and Health Technology, Applied Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Respirator fit qualified. Must be able wear a respirator and to get medical clearance and fit testing for respirator use.

  • Able to perform moderately strenuous job tasks required to collect sampling data in a variety of building and workplace conditions.

  • Minimum 12 months working as a regulated materials project monitor on commercial or institutional projects.

  • Routine lifting required: 40 to 50 lbs.

  • Ability to be approved for security badging including a US Customs seal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience performing assessments and abatement monitoring related to regulated building materials (e.g., asbestos, lead, PCBs);

  • Certification as an Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) building inspector

  • Certification as a NIOSH 582 asbestos air analyst (preferred)

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word and Excel; and

  • Experience performing regulated materials abatement monitoring.
