Job Summary

The Design Services Consulting Group (DCS) of AECOM is seeking a talented environmental, health and safety (EHS) compliance professional with a focus on support for the industrial/commercial/chemical business sectors for immediate hire to be based out of our Pacific Northwest or San Francisco Bay Area offices. The appropriate qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an intimate understanding of EHS compliance and auditing, relevant EHS permit package preparation, project management principles (including budget and finances, scheduling and proposal preparation), client management, report preparation, industry practices/standards, agency interaction, general OSHA safety standards, environmental agency reporting, excellent client/peer communication skills and a business development acumen.

The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of engineers and scientists that are responsible for EHS compliance, reporting, permitting, safety compliance and environmental field sampling/monitoring.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide environmental health and safety compliance, EHS compliance auditing and project management services to private and public sector clients

  • Perform implementation activities for EHS compliance auditing, regulatory compliance, hazard communications, safety programs, environmental due diligence, and environmental permitting/reporting for clients

  • Provide project management support to for various private and public sector client projects

  • Manages, organizes and responds to internal and external environmental and safety needs in support of AECOM's projects/clients in the industrial, pharma, commercial, oil & gas, transportation, and power sectors and federal agencies

  • Manage preparation of environmental plans, permits and reporting in accordance with Federal and State requirements

  • Conduct business development activities to support sustainable Group growth

  • This position requires the flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of AECOM

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors in environmental science/engineering, biology, chemistry, industrial hygiene, geology or demonstrated equivalent with 8+ years of professional experience in environmental, health and safety compliance/permitting related to private (industrial, pharma, power, oil/gas, commercial, and transportation) and public sector clients or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • Ability to travel overnight

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 plus years of professional experience in environmental, health and safety compliance/permitting related to private (industrial, pharma, power, oil/gas, commercial, and transportation) and public sector clients

  • Familiar with Spill Prevention, Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), Resource Recovery Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Hazardous Materials Business Plans (HMBP), Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), Storm water and UST/AST Systems

  • Experience in Environmental Due Diligence (EDD), multi-media auditing and compliance

  • Certified Professional Auditor certification is a plus

  • Familiarity with computer-based databases and online environmental compliance reporting system

  • An understanding of State and Federal environmental regulations
