Job Summary

AECOM is seeking to hire a Roadway Engineer based in our Seattle, WA office as part of our Pacific Region Transportation Business Line to serve as a member of the design team for on a variety of transportation design and planning projects, including a focus on Design-Build projects. The qualified applicant will be able to organize work tasks to deliver priorities in an environment of demanding and often conflicting deadlines. They will be goal oriented and Quality conscious with excellent communications skills. They will need to be versatile and adaptable to accommodate changing working times and priorities.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs on a variety of highway and municipal roadway projects

  • Prepare design and calculation packages for review

  • Perform technical checks on design elements

  • Understand Scope, Schedule, and Budget considerations of work tasks and communicate status to Management

  • Flexibility in working schedule to meet demanding deliverable timelines

  • Be Quality driven promoting Team Quality in QA/QC reviews and documentation

  • Active Team member supporting the improvement of operating systems, teamwork, and processes

  • Coordination with other design disciplines to coordinate overall project design

  • Experience at reading and interpreting design drawings and specifications

  • Prepare reports documenting work tasks and changes encountered

  • Active participation in project team coordination meetings

  • Be available to work extended hours during construction including nights and weekends as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience

  • Commitment to excellence and high quality of work

  • EIT or eligible within 6 months

  • Excellent report writing and communication skills

  • Experience achieving on-time delivery

  • Experience in the use of CADD design and drawing systems

  • Motivated to be a member of the Team

  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic to put in hours as required and be flexible to get things done

  • Commitment to safety and health program management

  • Good organizational skills and effective communication skills

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering Design-Build projects

  • Experience in the use of MicroStation-InRoads and/or Autocad-Civil 3D

  • Experience delivering WSDOT design projects

  • Experience working in the Consulting industry

  • Experience working with State DOT’s, Transit Agencies, and Municipal clients
