AECOM is actively seeking experienced Inspector - Dredging Oversight for employment in Savannah, GA.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Review contractors' quality management and control procedures on dredging projects and report findings to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Report onsite during hours of dredging shift work as needed.
Observe and investigate construction activities to identify major problems and report findings to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Review submittals and provide recommendations to the Contracting Officer's Representative concerning acceptability. Review and provide written comments to the Contracting Officer's Representative on selected contractor submittals pursuant to special clauses of the contract.
Evaluate contractor questions and RFIs/RFCs and recommend solutions to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Review contractors' schedules and report findings to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Provide a recommendation to the Contracting Officer's Representative concerning the acceptability of hydrosurvey reports and contract performance, payment estimates, and other reports concerning the progress of construction. Review and provide written comments on the accuracy of contractor payment estimates.
Compute contract time extensions and suggest extensions to the contract time to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Assist the Contracting Officer's Representative in preparing documents during the sequence of events required for processing a change order and claims from initial action to final negotiation and payment. Will not determine reasonableness of cost or approve change orders. Provide the Contracting Officer's Representative review and analysis of change requests.
Assist Contracting Officer's Representative in drafting letters to contractor explaining deficiencies found and corrections necessary.
Make technical interpretations of dredging templates and specifications and provide engineering determinations on whether methods and equipment employed meet the requirements of contract specifications and make appropriate recommendations to Contracting Officer’s Representative.
Review contractor’s records of work accomplished, and equipment used and report findings to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Plan work schedules and priorities to meet directions provided by the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Report any violations of the Corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements Manual, EM 385-1-1, and other District and contractual safety requirements. Inspect work areas for safety and health requirements and note safety recommendations and corrective action taken on daily reports.
Review project plans and specifications to determine such things as practicability, whether physical obstructions or other difficulties have been anticipated, and whether equipment selected is readily available. Provide written comments to the Contracting Officer's Representative.
Keep Contracting Officer's Representative informed on project operations.
Notify the Contracting Officer's Representative of any modifications to existing templates, site changes, time extensions and claims.
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check
Must pass pre-employment drug screen
Shall be physically capable of walking over rough terrain and standing long periods of time
Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain, variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, moisture, dust, dryness, noise, vibration, chemicals and in the presence of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; position requires frequent standing/walking; often performing repetitive bending/stooping, keyboard/mouse operations, repetitive or fine hand movements and working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment; occasionally power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), operation of vehicles, climbing stairs, and lifting <25-50 pounds; rarely working with arms above shoulder level, performing work at heights, using portable ladders, wearing fall protection, performing work on electrical circuits, working in confined spaces, and working alone in isolated/remote areas. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including gloves, safety glasses, face shield, safety boots/shoes, hard hat, hearing protection and high visibility clothing.
Completion of OSHA 10 Hour Outreach Training for Construction
