Job Description
AECOM’s Saskatoon Water group is seeking a motivated Technologist Intern to support numerous Civil Infrastructure projects throughout Saskatchewan. This 8 month temporary work term is targeting Engineering and Technology students currently enrolled in Civil, Water, or Environmental Engineering programs. Graduates may also be considered. The position will primarily consist of field assignments outside the Saskatoon area supplemented by office work when construction slows. Candidates should be prepared for significant travel, remote locations, shift work, and long hours.
Job Responsibilities Include:
Provide technologist services to projects either individually or as part of a larger project team.
All AECOM employees are required to carry out their duties in a safe and responsible manner.
Field work commonly involves travel, shift work, and long hours
Topographic and construction surveying
Construction supervision and inspections
Measuring and tracking quantities
Calculations to ensure the accuracy of our designs and identify the need for adjustments
Daily construction reports
Ensuring the projects’ needs are met in a timely and effective manner
Working with and maintaining a positive relationship with clients and contractors
Drafting and design support for various civil and water infrastructure projects
Data input and analysis using spreadsheets and modeling software
Calculating grades, volumes, distances, etc.
Compiling reports
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Enrolled in, or graduate of a relevant Engineering program (Certificate, Diploma, and Degree programs will all be considered)
Preferred Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Accuracy with details is essential
Experience collecting survey data and performing construction layout surveys using GPS, Total Station, and/or conventional survey equipment is preferred
Experience working around mobile heavy equipment and farm implements is considered an asset
Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and an understanding of CAD standards
Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings
Valid Drivers License
