AECOM Project SH&E Manager - San Juan in San Juan, Puerto Rico

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking highly talented and motivated Safety Managers in anticipation of a contract award to support a current client located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Selected candidate will

be required to conduct safety-related inspections at homes chosen to be included in the disaster recovery efforts in the southern section of Puerto Rico.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage, implement, and monitor health, safety & environment (HSE) programs in a specific program and/or business area.

  • Ensures compliance with all company and business area HSE policies, procedures, and practices

  • Implements and coordinates company HSE programs, including policy and procedure, training, hazard analysis, audit/assessment, permitting, record keeping, and inspection

  • Resolves compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from within the company, customers, etc

  • Performs inspections to ensure workplace conditions and work practices conform to HSE standards and best practices

  • Ensures workplace conditions and practices comply with applicable federal, state, local and customer/client HSE regulations and standards evaluate, and report metrics to measure status and progress

  • Performs injury and incident investigations with root cause analysis, prepares corresponding reports, and manages to closure

  • Guides the activities of other HSE professionals within business unit

  • Develops plans, procedures, and policies to continuously improve HSE programs

  • Develops, coordinates, and executes an effective safety training program

  • Provides leadership and direction in all areas of a risk assessment, loss control, regulatory compliance, and safety program

  • Establishes and implements short- and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effects changes required for improvement

  • Keeps abreast of pending regulatory developments through reference sources; obtains insight on legislative agendas at state and federal levels

  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience, AA/AS + 6 years of relevant experience, OR High School Diploma/GED Equivalent + 8 years of relevant experience.

  • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security pre-employment background check.

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

  • Must have valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable conditions including heat and moisture; position requires frequent standing/walking, operation of vehicles, and lifting of 25 pounds or less; often climbing stairs, and performing keyboard/mouse operations; occasionally working with arms above shoulder level, performing repetitive bending & stooping, using portable ladders, working alone in isolated/remote areas, and lifting 25-50 pounds; rarely power gripping/squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), working at heights, wearing fall protection, performing repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting 50 or more pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project is subject to HUD Regulation 24, C.F.R., Part 135.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and integrated software applications.

  • Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

  • Ability to accomplish results through interaction with management team and other HSE professional within business unit, and/or on own with significant latitude and independence in assignments.

  • Successful project experience for US Government client agencies is a plus.
