Job Summary

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and self-motivated Transportation Engineer for immediate employment with the Highway Group in the San Jose, California office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering specific to roadway and highway design, pavement design, and the preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications and construction estimates.

Job Responsibilities:

The candidate can look forward to projects including:

  • Intersection and Interchange Improvement Plans

  • Interstate Reconstruction Plans

  • Urban and Rural Roadway Improvement Plans

  • Construction related activities, including RFIs

  • Attend review meeting and field visits, as appropriate, for various projects

The candidate will be responsible for following Caltrans and municipal standards and performing engineering calculations under the supervision of a more senior engineer.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree + two (2) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • 2 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as highway design, traffic control design, stormwater and multimodal transportation projects.

  • Passed the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering Exam.

  • Ability to recognize discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Working knowledge of Autodesk Civil3D and/or Bentley OpenRoads and experience with MS Office

  • Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.

  • Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work.

  • Valid driver's license required.
