Job Summary
AECOM’s Sustainable Infrastructure Group in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to help with current workload and future marketing efforts. The Senior Engineer will lead a multi-disciplinary team on a variety of different civil engineering related projects. General duties include writing proposals, client contact, mentoring and day to day team management, leading technical studies and design, report writing, evaluation of alternatives and budget management. Experience with a wide range of civil design is preferred.
The Civil Engineer should be capable of mentoring junior staff using AutoCAD and Civil3D to develop project designs and calculate specific lengths/areas/volumes. Typical design tasks that the Senior Engineer would lead include, but are not limited to: preparation of existing site plans, earthwork grading plans, stormwater drainage plans, utility relocation plans, roadway and pipeline alignments/profiles, and typical cross sections/details. The Senior Engineer would also coordinate with other disciplines, including but not limited to: landscape architecture, architecture, cost estimating, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, hydrology and hydraulics. Specifically, leading pursuit and design of green infrastructure and integrating with other project components, leading the development of project construction documents/specifications and managing the overall delivery of work product to clients.
The Civil Engineer will be involved in design and construction phase services for a variety of civil infrastructure projects and may be required to conduct field investigations in difficult field conditions. Interaction with contractors and other design/construction engineers may be required.
Candidate must have strong organization skills and shall be capable of leading multiple teams and managing client relationships concurrently. Interested candidates will work on a variety of complex, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to further refine in-hand skills. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in civil engineering for public infrastructure. The work will include projects/industries including but not limited to green infrastructure, stormwater management and design, earthwork, roadways, pipelines, utilities, and complete street projects. Candidate must be motivated, responsible, and self-starting and able to work effectively within the Sustainable Infrastructure Group.
Within the first 6 month of hiring, the candidate must take and pass AECOM’s project management certification program.
Civil Engineering Design Experience
Assist with design and project management, while performing the following tasks:
Design a complete project (design drawings, specifications, cost estimates and technical memorandums and reports) or a component of a larger project with general direction
Prepare complete project documents
Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
Interact with clients, project managers, and senior managers
Broad knowledge of other disciplines work for working within multidisciplinary projects
Manage tasks, projects and assist in management of large on-call contracts
Supervise and assist in work scheduling and deliverable tracking
Flexibility in working schedule to meet demanding deliverable timelines
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree Civil and/or Environmental EngineeringEngineering or any of its branches
4+ years of experience designing civil-improvements at a private civil engineering firm and/or state/county/city government agency required
California Professional Engineer Certificate (PE) required
Valid Driver’s License required
Demonstrate an established career in civil engineering for public infrastructure. The work will include projects/industries including but not limited to earthwork, roadways, pipelines, utilities, and green infrastructure
