Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Technical Coordinator to be based in San Diego, CA.
Responsible for providing architectural guidance, calculations, analysis, studies and recommendations for a specialized segment of the Architectural Discipline within the schedules and budget of an assigned project.
May manage various size groups of architects, designers and/or specialists.
May work on mid-size projects and/or assist Project Architectural or Engineering Managers with higher grades.
The Technical Coordinator will report to an ADC Project Manager. The position’s scope includes assigned ADC projects.
Assisting the PM and/or CM in the monitoring and execution of construction contract administration and associated technical requirements is the primary role. Responsibilities will also include management and review of design development of deliverables for new work. Role includes management of several projects being developed concurrently. All work requires a high level of team collaboration and commitment to meet the needs of the project goals and the representative stakeholders.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Conduct stakeholder design reviews for all project related deliverables, including but not limited to organizing stakeholder engagement process, review comment process, page turn process and comment reconciliation process. As needed collaborate with designers and contractors to develop review materials and present to stakeholders and Authority Management.
Participate in project coordination and design review meetings to monitor work and coordination requirements. Collaboratively follow-up on open items and manage timely responses from all parties.
Review deliverable compliance with Airport Authority’s standards including design & construction standards, performance specifications and specific guidelines
Review deliverables including but not limited to design development submittals & presentations, contract milestone deliverables permit packages, RFI’s and other contract documents related to the conformance to the project & program contract requirements, stakeholder input and coordination with other program elements.
Address Operations and Maintenance issues in the design, including issues that may interfere with operations or maintainability of facilities and utilities.
Organize and manage stakeholder engagement as needed to ensure Operations, Maintenance, Security and Safety issues that pertain to coordinating work within an active airport are considered and resolved.
Assist in preparation of project data and information for Authority management reviews and external governmental communication.
Assist in project schedule status reporting by evaluating project progress. Manage timeliness of responses from all parties.
Prepare and distribute meeting announcements, agendas, and meeting notes. Lead project meetings and follow-ups for assigned tasks.
Create & maintain project documentation including correspondence, deliverables and tracking logs as required to meet Owner standards for correspondence and coordination with other departments and agencies.
Support manager in oversight of project budgets, cost estimates and project schedules.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
In addition, during the Pre-Construction & Construction Phase assist the PM and/or CM in the monitoring and execution of construction contract administrative and technical requirements.
Manage (review and monitor) construction phase correspondence and deliverables including but not limited to RFIs, submittals, design bulletin/field changes and mock-ups to ensure work is addressed in a timely manner. Receive, record, review, respond, transmit and track through resolution of the task. Maintain appropriate logs in the project information management systems. Prepare management information reports on the status of each.
Assist in managing the correspondence flow for change requests, proposals and change orders. Assist in review and evaluation of change order submittals and quantity surveys.
Participate in pre-construction, safety, and construction progress meetings. Collaboratively follow-up & resolve open items. As needed collaborate with designers and contractors to. develop review materials and present to stakeholders.
Participate in construction field walks and reviews. Document project progress including comment and resolution efforts required to meet contract requirements and schedule.
Assist in review of Letters of Award for work authorization packages.
Support manager in the project close-out documents Compile, record, transmit for reviews, monitors review process, and tracks contract close out (O&M manuals, commissioning, warranty, as-built and record documents, etc.)
Support manager with closeout warranty work as the project requires.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Must pass drug/alcohol and background screening for airport badging.
A valid Class C driver’s license and the ability to maintain eligibility under the Authority’s Authorized Drivers Program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor of Architecture, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
10 plus years (Sr. Technical Coordinator) or 4-8 years (Technical Coordinator) of experience in design or management of relevant projects required
Construction administration or management experience is required.
Effective, team-oriented communication and leadership style
Self-starter, comfortable with taking initiative and working under time and budget constraints.
Desire to take on responsibility and lead – not just contribute
Excellent written and oral skills including ability to communicate complex issues to a non-technical audience
Strong organizational skills.
Executes strong quality control process for themselves and others.
Experience with airport projects is highly desirable.
Large Project experience is desirable.
Design Build Delivery experience is desirable.
Familiarity with CADD and BIM programs as necessary
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - 175,000/yr.
Experience in technical execution of tasks for traffic engineering projects with an emphasis of traffic signal design, intersection analysis, PS&E packages, and safety analysis of all modes of transportation and facility types.
